Don't think I posted about my recent issue...

New torch head arrived; some almost 2 years of heavy use and covered under warranty just cause one of the owners saw my asking about it

If anyone wants to know what the inside of a blowback style plasma torch looks like

The two wires trailing down can be bypassed, to remedy the issue I have on my current torch

It prevents the torch from being able to fire if the consumables aren't properly attached, specifically the shielding cup as it closes the circuit for a "ready to fire" signal

Well, one of the pins connected to that wire is stuck in the "down" position and even though it's a quick fix...I'll take a new torch head with new consumables any day of the week

Was a bit busy, but got around to installing the new torch head

Feels like a whole new torch again!

    20240313_181923.jpg

Also, dropped off that sign I had made this last Sunday

Got there and everyone freaking loved it; so much he wants another one

But bigger, and out of 1/4" steel

Except a different style as it'll be hung and placed at an intersection for people to see as they drive by

Tell me your shit is dialed without telling me your shit is dialed - cuts are always, consistent

    20240316_135328.jpg

Consolidating stuff so this is a kit that is unspoken for, just cut it out of left over material

Available here first otherwise I'll post it up in my thread. It's 12 gauge so smaller setup.

Be perfect to place on a stand like my last one.

Been a little quiet in here

Since I've yet to do tab and slot design in 3/16" I just wanted to confirm the same level of requested accuracy so I did some test cuts

The gussets here are *actual* pieces from part of an assembly I'll be cutting soon

The square with slots is my test piece

    20240322_135831.jpg

    20240322_135839.jpg

As well as a test piece with a "tab" from one of the larger parts of the assembly

    20240322_135850.jpg

From top to bottom, the drawn dimensions for the slots are 0.17" tall, 0.19" tall, and 0.21" tall respectively

Here are their physical dimensions, within the two hundredths expected

    20240322_141440.jpg

Same goes for the length of said slot

    20240322_144427.jpg

And finally, the tab which is an exterior cut

    20240322_144056.jpg

This was also expected based on how I run my offset and kerf values, but really happy that the difference is the same whether it's an inside cut or outside

Not even sure why I do test cuts anymore

Had enough scrap to cut some more assembly parts; the rest will come when my friend brings over the 3/16" plate

Depends on the process used, I mean you can get that sort of silhouette stamped on steel

Just glad you guys got to see the magic table at work

Like Larry had mentioned, taking pride and all...I really took the time when first getting into this to make sure everything cuts the way I expect it to. Then there's the whole other part of learning CAD.

No beveling, no oblong holes, no signs of lead ins or outs (as little as possible), and then you've got others that sell some real cringe-worthy stuff :puke:

    bead rolling.

but it is as much an art as it is a voodoo.

you can't just run a piece of sheet metal through a bead roller and get a completed product. once it's bead-rolled, the metal as been stretched at the bead, but no where else, so the other parts of the panel must be shrunken/stretched to get a flat panel again.

For anyone wanting to know, the pricing is within $1,000 when comparing the STV Modular 5' x 5' table with the Optimum and gear reduction upgrade compared to the Pro and of course, you get the automatic honing and move away from the stepper motors used in the modular setup...and fully welded frame

Something for future me to consider :anonymous:

@Kwikvette it shows you definately put pride into your work. I'm sure learning CAD was a pain. Keep up the great work.

Hey @Kwikvette. Haven't caught up with this thread for a bit, but are you still doing small jobs with the table? Looking to get a couple brackets/bezels cut.
