they were eventually phased out in later model years. bound to be some slop in transition ie. using up old shafts.
easy to check and grease if you have them. you probably do on 2018. less and less chance on following years.

You probably only have one, and won't see it if you don't know where to look.
Front prop shaft above a little plate, iirc.

Yea, my March '18 build only has one, but I know there were a few folks that wound up with a couple.

lol. would be nice if the one requiring some disassembly (plate) to get to was deleted first.
there is a good pic in the service manual i am looking for. will post when i find it.

    EDIT:
here is relevant stuff for front prop shaft (sorry to go off on tangent re oil change):
i had to remove a bracket to get to one of my 2 zerked universals. easy to do.
general maint section also recommends tightening shaft bolts - mine were fine.
these are snapshots from 3 different sections...ignore step numbers.

If I were in your situation I would just change the oil and filter myself and chalk it up to a lesson learned. Specifically I would get some Pennzoil 0w20 and a filter.

Ask for your old filter and drain plug sealing washer. Not that they could give you someone elses old filter but it shows you care. I cut apart my filter to inspect the pleats for ... well badness.

Yes. You'll lose 0.6 qt or so from the filter cap, so top up the oil after. Ideally use Mobil 0W20 or 0W30 for top-up, because Mobil makes Toyota-branded oil most dealers use, so the additives will be compatible. For subsequent drain & fill you can use whatever oil brand you want.

They probably didn’t do it. I caught the dealership lying to me about rotating my tires at my first service interval. They said they did, and I figured out they didn’t. Never went back and never will.

Maybe that dealer spun your wheels on each axle while on a lift and calls that a tire rotation.

No trying to be rude here, but what's the surprise?

You paid zero dollars and got zero service

They received zero dollars and performed zero work

There's no free lunches in this business. Offering free work to customers is never healthy for the shop or the vehicle owner

Now, I know they're the ones offering it.. but still.. it just doesn't make any sense. Putting a sign out front offering free this or that just screams desperation. Vote with your money. Keep the shops in business that are doing it right. That means charging fairly, and probably charging more for an oil change than you would like to pay

I don't want the "free" tech touching my vehicle. I don't want the shop to be under pressure to "find something " to sell me like a flush or similar.

Oil changes at my shop are expensive af compared to other places. BUT, the vehicle always leaves with the drain plug and filter tight, engine full of oil, and we don't upsell bullshit. We don't have to because we're not giving away our time for free

My advice is find someone you trust and pay whatever he asks for

Something to be said about this. Yeah, I will never trust the dealership if I find that they didn't perform the stated work. As a matter of fact, I don't trust them regardless. I plan to remove the oil filter this week and I will post a picture of it here as a follow up.

the point of the free maint period at the stealership is to get you to buy the truck and so they can hype free period on tv ads. they never said it would be excellent service for free.

Mark the filter with the service date using a permanent marker. Then check it after an oil change.

    Simple

Nevermind this as I forgot about the Cartridge filter...

Use a tamper proof marker to check if they opened it up.

Good to know you will check your filter. Some TW members have reported a missing filter element. Marking the filter housing is not always a sure thing they did the job right.

you mean take the cartridge out, mark the cartridge, put it back, get it serviced, then take the cartridge out and examine it? ah...longing for the good old days.
