Looking for some ideas on replacing my front seats. My driver side leather seat has gotten real bad where foam is starting to come out.

I would like to stay leather but i would like to also look into aftermarket heated seats (not so good back needs it sometimes).

Do 3rd gen seats fit a second gen truck??
Do I need to go full aftermarket?

    Thanks for any insight.

edit: not looking for seat covers, I know about the seat covers that are out there but thank you

    Leather?

there are seat covers out there.

when there’s a will, there’s a way. Saw someone put Audi S5 seats in theirs.
Idk if they have the same features. Not sure if the Taco has side airbags inside of the seat back. Audi typically does.

anything Toyota/Lexus is probably gonna be better about bolting right up.

Clazzio or Katzkin make leather type replacement covers. They can go OVER your existing leather or you can strip your seats down to foam and install theirs.

thank you for your recommendations but I’m not looking for seat covers. I’m looking for replacements of the full entire seat mainly for better options with heat… I’ve already researched seat covers about two years ago and it’s just not the route. I want to go but thank you

You can make a lot of different seats fit but what I would suggest is to talk to an upholstery shop about getting the seat recovered, add foam in where needed to get the shape back and where you would like some more support and then have aftermarket seat heaters installed at the same time as they are being recovered.

It might be possible to buy an original seat cover replacement and put it on.

or a used same seat in better condition. Depending on what you want.

DIY. Have messed with seat upholstery and heaters many times. Not hard.
Make and model differs but usually it’s a matter of having the right tools to deal with cutting and installing new hog rings or whatever secures it.

Wish I had heated steering wheel, seats, and mirrors when I lived in CO.
Even nicer would be heated and ventilated seats but not sure how to add that.
Usually means perforated cover, foam might be the same. Fan sucking air out down underneath held on. And a skirt kind of like a radiator shroud at the fan. Button to control the fan.

i always thought that using the seats from a 4runner with leather would be cool. just poking around, it looks like the seat rails are different, but nothing that cant be worked around. anything with a toyota badge should be a good starting point, perhaps a wrecked highlander would be a good donor. ive thought of doing that before but my other projects get most of my attention because my seats are still in working order
