I'm trying to figure out how to get control of the dash lights. I'd like to be able to turn them on when marginal daylight visibility conditions require full headlight use but it isn't dark enough to kick on the dash lights, and as soon as you turn on the full headlights in daylight, the instrument panel dims. Assume that there is a sensor somewhere?

If your Taco has the light sensor (next to tweeter on passenger's side) you can have some adjustment via the Head Unit.

I've read the manual. The light sensor next to the tweeter seems to be the control for the automatic headlight system. I turned on the lights in daylight, blanked out that sensor and it made no difference. Don't know how to set it with the Head system, when I look at the manual I can't find something in the user settings section.

Turn vehicle ON, select AUTO on the light stalk. Then play with covering the sensor...
