Sounds like without that work its a $2500 vehicle. If you did it yourself it'd be a lot less tho

You were already quoted for a new rack, with labor for replacing it

Buy a new LCA or two and have those replaced with the rack at the same time

It'll be far cheaper than the $2,500 you're quoting

So my offer of $3,000 some days ago seems a lot more fair now

I don’t know. I think could still go for 5k here as is since it’s not rusty. Most of the Tacomas you see posted for sale likely need similar work. The ones that are sorted mechanically probably aren’t getting sold.

I’m definitely gonna have to figure out a cost benefit analysis. I mean even the dealer told me they could do 5k cash, and that was after I told them about the leaking rack.

    True

Lots of people still coming into this thread, or the forum in general, wanting to learn about their newly acquired vehicle

It's refreshing knowing plenty want to keep these trucks on the road

don't tell a dealer anything unless its good, you can give them a vehicle with a blown engine or a missing roof and if they dont' notice then its a bonus to you and you'll never hear about it from them anyway

@Ozark_RegCab is the type of dude that'll easily incriminate himself and get a speeding ticket when the cop that pulled him over was gonna let him off with a warning

Road Pirate: Do you know what speed you were going son?

Nick: It was only a little bump of coke to take the nerves down

    Road Pirate: Wrong speed son.

Nick: Oh OH yeah sorry the unregistered gun fell out of my lap and lodged itself between the throttle and floor mat so I must've gone 20 over, but it was an accident

It turns out I was actually underselling it at 2500. This is the estimate before taxes to go through everything. The most pressing issue seems to be the u joint which is in danger of snapping. Makes me miss the one piece driveshaft in the single cab.

Maybe if I go to Tulsa for the weekend. I could probably get away with doing the u joint at the apartment.
