I just know if I took my truck into a shop I'd get a similar list of things.
Not that I'm proud of that I wish my truck was perfect, but you can weigh the repairs based on what's actually important and don't have to drop an extra $2500 to replace some older bushings and weepy seals when cash is tight.
To me I see two main issues, the U-joints and the steering rack (you'd know best, I'd go off steering feel on this one).

I’ll try pricing out the parts and see what I can do. I'm sure just the OEM parts will get over a grand easily before we even get to any labor. They didn't even mention the chirping TOB since they didn't test drive it.

The main thing is I want the alignment fixed so I don't wear out my tires, and they seemed to think I needed a whole new front end just to do that.

Bad LCA bushings can cause you to not hold alignment well

I'm pretty sure I told you this last year :burp:

Yea they basically said it'd be a waste of 100 bucks. We just reached an impasse on what's all is involved in replacing them. Again, he told both ball joints upper and lower would need to be replaced since they're "part of the assembly."

Ah that makes sense. Definitely a Dredd vibe. I haven't see that in so long.
Which just made me think of Demolition Man.
Now I'm thinking about the the 3 seashells.

Well for less than that quoted price I could’ve had a perfectly good Camry, but it sold within a few hours. I think I’m moving away from 4x4s after this due to the maintenance costs. It was always just a few hundred here and there with my Forester and Camry.

I’m definitely not buying another vehicle sight unseen. I don’t care how many rosy stories the owners tell about it. No more mods either.

I can almost guarantee if you took that car into the same shop you'd also see a bill for $3500.

30 minutes per side, you may find you don't need a rack.

Well I presume the bushings are also bad by now.
