I felt the same way about getting the Nokians for her car too. We had the 1st gens for her old car and with the limited time we run them they lasted the time we kept her car. So I didn't mind buying them again for her on this car.

Was there a TW ride in CT today? We saw a bunch of Tacos while we were touring through the woods. Lead truck had Big Jer on the license plate. We were the group of idiots on bikes, lost at that point, tooling through the woods.

This must have been after we dropped me and Lee's trucks off at the scout camp and were going back into the woods.

    or at the water crossing.

There were 4 different categories of racers, but they all went through the initial segment where we saw you guys. It was a gravel race that started at Thompson Motor Speedway and covered anywhere from 30 to 90 miles depending on which class you signed up for. Race makers missed a sign so all hell broke loose right in the beginning. I did the 48 miler, which ended up being 57 because we got lost. We ended up making our own way, following power lines to a road and joining back up to the course that way. The race coordinators missed a sign, the GPS map we had was inaccurate and lots of people lost their way at that point. It was only 5 miles into the whole event so it sucked dealing with it that early on. Lots of people kept doubling back to get back on course.

I passed you guys on a hill climb (I was climbing, you guys were on a trail perpendicular to us, coming down a hill). I looked where we passed you, we were in RI at the time, that’s how far off we were, we never should have been out of CT. We were quite a ways off course.

Yup Mike, that was us lol. We were still helping riders out of the woods even at noon. I could not believe the clusterfuck that you guys had to endure....especially for what you guys had to pay to do the event. Just to see you guys going through those puddles was cringe-worthy lol.

Oh wow... That's brutal. The first pack went off at 10 for the 90 miler, 10:30 for the 70 miler, 11 for us in the 50 miler then I think 11:30 for the 30 miler. Where we saw you guys, we were only 5 miles in and had just gone through all the mud and water (and it was still pretty damn cold at that point). When we got lost with our group, we ended up running into a few people from the group before us, they had been circling the woods for half an hour longer than us at that point. The 2 guys I was with finally got to the power lines and said screw back tracking, we're taking the power lines to the road and will figure it out from there. The rest of the group backtracked to the start and then went from there (and added even more miles from what I can tell). We went down the power lines, hit a big ass puddle (several feet deep sort of puddle), bushwhacked around it and ended up on a trail that led to some guy's back yard. Cut through the side yard (because we had gone too far to back track at that point), caught the road and got back on course. Our course was supposed to have been 53.4 miles with 3,300' of elevation gain, we finished 57-58 miles with 4,300-4,400' of elevation gain. Wore us out right in the beginning of the course, but we managed to get to thru it and finished out.
Here's the map of our ride, the yellow is where we should have gone, the orange to the right shows how off course we ended up getting. We saw you guys around the area of that lone spur off to the right.

I think i know that puddle. Adam tried to go through it and thought better of it once he got a tire in.

Those puddles were no joke! Sucks getting the feet wet on a +/-50 mile ride in the first 5 miles. With the weather we had Saturday I am a bit surprised the race organizers didn't scrap that whole section for the pavement bypass. When you are going through upwards of 2' of standing water, shoes and socks are getting drenched, the bike lube gets completely washed away, and the general spirit of the riders plummets lol.

Was pretty hilarious to come across a Tacoma group though.

Hey IDK if any of you guys watch American Idol (probably not!)? But my sons ex-girlfriend is on it this season and has got a golden ticket and made it to Hollywood! Man I can remember this girl singing in the back seat of my truck when she was just a kid! She's in Hollywood now so we are hoping she has made it past the 1st rounds of cuts!

If you can, look out for her on the show. Her name is Amanda and she lives in Massachusetts!

Spotted a 4th gen today. Looks slightly smaller than the previous 2 gens. Maybe the body lines make it look smaller.

Nope it's definitely smaller, at least in the rear seat double cab. Door is smaller
