It’s funny those are now considered full size engines.

I drove a Cherokee 4xe (work travel rental) last week. 2.0 L turbo. 375 HP / 470 lb*ft. Sounds impressive on paper. But that turbo HP just didn't feel the same as NA horsepower. I don't know how to explain it, but it just doesn't. It was augmented by the electric motor during accel, too.

When I got home and got into my 2009 with the 1GR-FE, it felt fast, fun, and responsive.

When C&D tested the Cherokee they were impressed with the power but noted some hesitation when accelerating hard from low speed as the gas engine and electric motor fought against each other. They recorded a 5.3sec 0-60 and 13.9 1/4. But that's the problem with TFLs 1/4 mile drag test. I had a hot rod Camaro as a teenager, it was fast in the 1/4 and when you were at full throttle. Around town at part throttle it felt like a dog. Not sure of the max torque rpm for the Ford or Chevy, but I would imagine the Tacoma's max torque at 1700 would make it "feel" faster around time when you are at low rpm/part throttle. I don't think many of us are looking at trucks because we plan on drag racing them.

The Cherokee that I rented was, to be fair, one of those vehicles that didn't feel fast or exhilarating, but suddenly, you'd look down at the dash and note that you were doing 80 MPH and not have any idea how you got there. This was on the highway, in case anyone is wondering.

I have a 2023 Tacoma and I'm drooling at the Bronze long bed at my dealer. I can haul motorcycles! I might have to take the hit and get it. Drove it and I freakin' loved out! Will I regret a long bed?

Wait a year or two. Prices will moderate and bugs will be worked out. The color/bed configuration will still be there.

DCLB is impractically long in my city and on the trails in my region. If you don't need the back seats, wait to test drive the Xtra Cab.

There’s not much excitement around here lately. Someone needs to go break something on a 4th gen so we have something to talk about.

My stupid turdgen battery died and I had to get a new one… wife didn’t think a dead battery is a good reason to trade into a 4th gen :spending::ballchain:

Saw just my second one in the wild today. A white SR5. I gotta say the SR5 with the silver wheels doesn't do much for me, especially compared to the OR.

I am at 2 whites in the wild and CSM at the dealer. Sport, Or and a SR5. It's like Pokemon at his point lol.
