Thank you for the heads up!

Glad you arrived on this choice- as it's by far the most cost effective if you don't already have the press.

I thought about this for rear wheel bearings. Fully loaded drop it in and you can spec new brakes or not. Even if you bought all OEM and charged $100 for labor I bet people would them.

Yeah they changed the design of that seal.

So it is real important to study those Timmy vids very carefully....

He does that grease test to tell exactly where that edge lip of that seal rides right in the very center of that ring...

He accomplished that work-a-round fix by flipping that retainer ring backwards...

The 4 runner people are very aware of this problem.

I did mine with his 'Mr Coffee mod' and two years out with no leaks.

For all you running old diff fluid......that is eating that seal alive.....along with the drive shaft one....

Clogged diff vents are half the problem. They get all gunked up and when the fluid heats up it pushes past the seal and leaks.

I've received my parts in the mail.

    Includes:

    Koyo Bearing
    Two seals
    Snap Ring
    Hub
    Nut

Do I need to give any special instructions to the shop? Should I provide them a diagram of the assembly?

The spindle is currently "assembled", meaning that the hub is attached, all seals are attached, the brake shield is in place, etc... Should I be able to bring this to the shop and provide them the new parts and have them press it/reassemble?

Thanks in advance! Just want to get this thing on the road.

Call and ask if including an FSM page would be helpful for them or not :notsure: Just make sure to ask in a tone that's not insulting.

I'll definitely do that just to make sure. I just want to make sure it goes back together the right way the first time and seeing as how these aren't necessarily the most common jobs I figured it could help.

    Thanks!

    Update:

Got the spindle back from the shop today.

They said it went on no problem.

Re-installed the spindle in the truck, the bearing felt a little tight not too bad. This is after re-installing the axle nut etc...

I took it for a drive, everything seemed ok, except that the brake shield was bent and I had to re-bend it away from the hub or whatever it was rubbing on.

Seemed fine, brought the truck home, felt the hubs. Left one (good one), was warm but basically cool to the touch.

The one that was just pressed in was HOT. Like burn your fingers hot.

    Any ideas?

No play in it or anything just really hot.

Really need to get this thing sorted out.

    Thanks!

Great news guessing it was caliper?
