I jumped over from another tune and am definitely happy I did. Highway performance is much better for me and the biggest difference.

I probably will end up tuning to OTT to see if it fixes my issues. The tune I have fixed most the problems but in higher elevations I noticed it tends to gear hunt alot but not as bad as when it was stock.

That dead zone on a turn bothers me because the transitions is not smooth. I appreciate the input I probably end up going to OTT and see if it's a better tune overall.

What tune did you have before I'm just curious? Did it improve your mpg?

Another question for most of you should have OTT, do you guys have a lift and bigger tires with other parts? I currently have skid plate, sliders, tonneau cover, 285/70r17 c rated toyo tires and a roof rack. Would mild/medium work or lite/mild works better for me?

My tuner said the more weight you have, the higher you should go on the tune. I'm nearly bone stock.

Mild on a bone stock vehicle won't "feel" the same as mild with big tires, heavy bumpers etc. Usually a step up an aggression will account for the extra weight. On a bone stock vehicle I would start on mild/medium or lite/mild.

What setting are you currently running? If you don't mind me asking what trim of your truck? You have a shortbed or longbed? And what's your average mpg?

I'm running lite/mild on my '21 OR DCSB.

I'm 24 miles in on a tank (three 8 mile round trips -city) and currently at 17mpg. No different than before.

Was wondering if there is anyone here who have a similar experience as me. I am running 35s, ~250lbs additional weight, stock gears. I got the mild/medium setting and have been loving it so far. However, the mild is a bit too touchy for my taste especially when I am driving in traffic or pulling into/out of a parking spot. It almost feels as the torque is building up then it kicks all at once. Similar feeling to releasing a clutch in a manual car really fast after building up the revs. It kind of "kicks" when starting from a deadstop and i am feathering the throttle to inch in traffic.

No hate on the tune. I really do enjoy it and I find the transmission much more pleasant than stock tune. My money is on the stock gearing + larger tires playing an effect on how the torque is applied to the wheels.

I plan to retune to lite/mild as soon as i can find some time but wanted to share my experience and see if anyone felt similar in terms of throttle control. Just reading TW and this thread i see most people opt for the mild/medium for a similar set up as mine but i understand it is all personal preference.

You might ask for a lite/mild hybrid option for non-ECT if you like the response of Mild but find the initial "hit" of throttle too much. Let your tuner know and schedule a throttle adjustment. You can try Lite or we can build you the hybrid version.

Thanks for the reply Justin. I did not know a hybrid version was an option. I like everything about the mild except for the initial response. Is the lite/mild hybrid option already prebuild or would it be an iterative tuning process with my tuner?

It's not a standard offering, but it's no trouble to make it. We've done it for a few others who have similar tastes as yours.

We'll have it ready for your visit. Just let your tuner know you're specifically requesting a Lite/Mild Hybrid, and you've spoken with me (Justin) about it.

I find my wife’s right foot to hit too hard. I wish I could tune her down . She does not give 2 shits about economy. Constantly doing 85 MPH+ on the highway. Not a bad driver, but damn my poor wallet suffers at the pump.

Sounds like a pedal commander may be good for your use case…

Anyone have 5.29 gears with this tune? I'm running 33's with a stock tune that I modified for gears, tires size, and a 10% increase in throttle for each gear (1st gear is slightly more than stock and then 10% more throttle for each gear). This helps the need to constantly push the pedal down further each time the truck upshifts. I was on a different tune that I loved, but it wouldn't downshift when maintaining slower speeds around town, ruining my MPG's. With the modified stock tune, it will actually go down to 1100-1300 RPM's to maintain slower city speeds which boosts my MPG.

I know that this tune helps hold gears longer than stock, but wondering if it will actually upshift like described above? Thank you in advance for any info on this.

lol, it would not make a difference. Just take her slightly longer to get to speed.

I've got the s/c installed on my 23 for the last 6 months been driving it without any issues that I could tell, but last week it had flashing check engine light come on for p0300random/multiply misfires, p030027emissions, and p030085 over temp for the converters. When I have the scan tool hooked up to view the live data it will misfire cylinders even when revving it parked also when driving. I have a feeling the tune from magnuson isn't right. Has anyone seen this before? I want to get the OTT done, but have just been putting if off.

Truck only has 1900 miles and s/c has been installed for 1300 of them.
I also pulled plugs and they all look like this. IDK to me it seems like is running lean.

Truck has 2,000 (two-thousand ?) total miles on it and this happens?

Go directly to the nearest dealership and have this dealt with under warranty.

I think the dealership will simply point at the SC and tell OP to pound sand.

Oh I see. I thought maybe it was some kind of package thing, and/or that maybe the S/C was covered under warranty as part of some kind of TRD/Magnuson partnership. ...

After driving a 2024 with the new powertrain and feeling its superior power output, I'm convinced to tune my 3rd gen so it doesn't feel like it's spilling its guts trying to get up to speed. A few questions though, if I request a tune that's a bit too sensitive on throttle for me, can I go back immediately after to the tuner for them to flash a less sensitive file? And I assume most tuners are independents that don't necessarily own a shop but rather meets you in personal and flashes the tune? Lastly, do they accept payment through PP/Venmo?
