2010 Tacoma,Tail lights not working on both right and left. When I take my tail light unit out to replace bulb it looks nothing like the you tube videos. The center plus in that I think operates the tail and brake light does not have a bulb. It has four wires going to a small stationary panel. Back up, turn signal and brake lights work, tail light does not. ????

Have you checked the Tail Fuse (10A) in the interior fuse box?

In the same boat as OP. Turn and reverse still work, brake still works, but no rear running lights.
Aside from checking the cabin fuse, any other suggestions?

Do your front marker/tail lights work?

    Just got it sorted!

    OG symptoms were:
    -no running tail lights
    -no license plate lights
    - brake lights still worked

    Fix:

-Changed fuse in cabin (was burnt)
    - now rear left running light worked, right still not working
    -pulled right light assembly
    -found broken wire
    -repaired wire , all working.

    *** Key note for others***
The area where the wire broke was from rubbing on the frame where the wiring harness threads through a small hole in the frame and into the area where the taillight installs. (See attached photo) The harness is designed in such a way that I could see this being a weak link for others that wheel their truck and see lots of vibration.

    Hope this helps someone.
    Thanks TW
