I am interested in removing the sway bar on my 3rd gen. I am wondering if anyone has ever stuck a bolt into the bore on the spindle where the endlink would go? The empty hole where the endlink would be bolted into creates a weak point in the spindle which may cause it to bend.

The image shows the stock spindle on the left. I am referring to the hole on top that has a machined face.

I didn't put a bolt back in but it's not a bad idea.
    Certainly won't hurt anything.

Unfortunately none of my spare bolts fit in that hole i need to source one so i dont leave it open. I figured that hole makes up good portion of the cross sectional area in that location causing it be much weaker than if the endlink was in there.

Do you still have your swaybar? Maybe hack apart the end link. Its tapered so I would think it would be best to have the plug engage on the taper.

i still have the swaybar and endlink on right now. That wouldnt be a bad idea since the endlink has a face on it so it can act as a bolt head. Ideally I would like to shoot for full engagement between the bolt shoulder and spindle endlink bore ID.

Since you brought it up I tossed in a couple 5/8" hex bolts and some wide washers.
If anything, to keep crud out.
    I live in salt country.

Edit: That size isn't a snug fit if that's what you're looking for.
    There's play.

I had planned on building some brackets to hang some Baja S1's from those leftover holes so that I have lighting that turns with the wheels but haven't gotten around to it yet. Many run without sways and have had no ill effects from having that hole open though.
