Haven't updated in a little bit but I've been to windrock twice so far and around town a bunch.

    First trip was fun

    Until it wasn't lol

A rock slide towards the center and kissed my shaft. Drove home in fwd only. Got the shaft retubed and went for round 2.

2nd trip was a good trip. Covered lots of ground and caught the leafs changing.

    Now onto some mods

The road handling was less than desired so we added a panhard bar. The fun part was matching the length of the drag link but we were able to fit it and clear with minimal adjustments.

On the road the front of the truck had a tendency to pendulum swing after random bumps. After adding the panhard, the steering tightened up as well as there's no more side to side movement. The panhard was the best $70 I ever spend on this axle swap.

Oh yeah I also snagged a hf 12k winch around black friday.

So it's been a little bit of time. Got an aussie locker installed in the front just in time for the shamrock shakedown at windrock.

Had my first breakage day one barely on the trail.

Somehow autozone had a chronoly axle shaft in stock so we disassembled the whole axle in the field and got it swapped in.

The rest of the 2 days of wheeling were solid with no issues. The front locker worked wonders.

Did find a good reason to add a rear eventually lol. Just barely had no traction and only need a slight adjust yoink.

That's about as gnarly as it gets right there. Any idea what caused the axle failure?

Me lol. I went to go bump a rock buuuut it was more of a ram. It's crazy how on the road the 1uz seems under powered but off road it's plenty and sometimes too much.

Couple of video dumps since I finally put them on YouTube lol

This is what made me get a lunchbox locker for the front axle

Its funny how flat the camera makes it all look

I may be looking into some diy taillights since I seem to keep breaking them

Definitely see a high clearance rear bumper in my future with a little kickout to help protect the fiberglass. The new yukon hubs seems to be holding which is also good.

Went wheeling for 3 days at ATR. I neeeeeed gears lol. I keep overheating crawling around in low and first gear (who knew 3:50s arent enough ). Took the hood off and limped it through the rest of the weekend.

Overall it was a fun weekend. I've already started to address the regearing along with a few other goodies. Should have more to show after this weekend.

Annnnd converted the brakes from drum to disc using the front rotors and gm metric calipers.

    IMG_20241112_155824.jpg

Didn't take a final brake photo because we were scrambling to finish in one day lol. So now it riiiips, locks and stops better. Also the disc brakes can be cleaned waaaay easier then drums. Never really had issue with the toyots drums but these ford 9s pack the mud in.
