Go on autotrader, etc. and lookup a 2020-2021 Limited or higher trim Tundra with less than 45k miles and see what those prices are commanding. KBB is not a good gauge of anything but limited tool since most of us dont have access to auction sales.

What if it ends up being made in Mexico?

Quick 300 mile search in my area, sorted by lowest price, under 45k miles, Limited trim 4wd.

The KBB numbers are averages (same condition, same options, same exact mileage) for "trade-in value" not an auction. Hard to use Autotrader to compare exact options, condition, and mileage. Too easy to cherry pick whatever you want to prove.

I'm not cherry picking, and well aware what KBB is and why it's not a good metric, ever try to use KBB at a dealer and they laugh at you. Thats because auctions and what they are actually being sold for not an estimated trade value is a better metric of what they are commanding in the market and cars.com, cargurus, autotrader etc. is a better way of seeing that without access to auction pricing / sales. Regardless if its the fact new tundras are stacking up on lots and older ones are perceived as more desirable for some or just the increase in pricing raising values even for older gens, they are still commanding pretty close and high especially given original MSRP.

Nope. I think it’s designed for 20 year olds and also for 50 year olds that still think they are 20 with their flat brim hats, etc. :D

Okay, toss the 2021 with 2,441 miles (vs others with 18-41K miles) and the one 2021 you posted is 1-3K less than the 22s and 23.

Agree to disagree. People will pay more for what they think has more value. But, there is a much smaller percentage of truck buyers that are on forums and are aware of real or perceived deficiencies of certain years of production vs most truck buyers. Most truck buyers think newer = better and will pay more for newer.

The 6th Gen 'Runner is slated to be built in the Tahara plant.

I don't see how it's going to compete with the 550, though. At least not the higher trim levels.

Then the value of the 5th gens will shoot thru the roof...I might have to buy 2 of them if thats the case.

Won't compete against the GX550 but the LC on the same lot. Same exact drivetrain and only a couple inches different. 1958 starts at 56K, most basic 4wd 4Runner is 44K. You're right, there will be some overlap if you compare high end to low end but I bet they offer a non-hybrid 4R to keep the entry price low.

Given how reliable the 5th gen have been and all the accessories you can find it would be ideal to buy one now. Also don't think the 4cyl turbo is ready yet to be replacing the reliable 1GR-FE . Seeing a few complaints about the 8 speed on the Taco/Highlander also. We'll see
