The LC will most likely slot above the 4 runner in price and size. The 4Runner will probably start in the low 40s with the same base non hybrid 2.4 and range to 60 plus for the higher end or hybrid trims. Pretty sure the LC starts at around 50k. We can complain about price but clearly people are still buying. People have been paying $$$ for the 5th gen for years, great quality but it’s a 14 year old platform essentially. Seeing a price increase after over a decade isn’t that surprising. Think of the price of everything else that has increased in that time.

I really think it’s interesting Toyota USA is starting the next gen 4Runner reveal before releasing the Tacoma Pro and Trailhunter prices.

Unfortunately the prices Toyota releases aren’t street prices. Street prices right now on Tacomas and 4Runners are way above Toyota.com. Not everywhere, but certainly in Gulf States and Southeast regions.

I’m either going to get raped the next time around or buy out of state.

Interesting, hopefully they get the problems sorted. Keep in mind the Alabama plant built both 4.7 and 5.7 v8 found in the tundra. Probably some of the most reliable engines Toyota has made.

I can’t wait to trade legendary reliability for “commercial grade”.

True, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that price creep closer to mid 50s or more for a mid grade optioned model, especially if demand is there. 4Runner’s are insanely popular here in CO, see almost as many as you do Subarus.

Couple items. Your numbers are way off and the 4Runner has already been increasing in price over the last 15 years.

The prices in Colorado are better than they are here. At least that is true on the 4Runners.

Land Cruiser and Lexus GX 550 pricing was pretty recent. Way after the Tacoma reveal.

The Land Cruiser price press release was 2/20/2024.

Consumer grade vs commercial grade is a real thing buddy. At the end of the day it’s overbuilt for its application. Products intended for commercial use are more durable than their consumer grade counterparts, so yea accurate phrasing on their part. I personally don’t have a problem with them using an overbuilt part designed to meet higher thermal durability standard than the turbo in their other 2.4 applications. Sounds like they’re doing it right.

In the body on frame Toyota hierarchy, prices will be:

    4Runner starts around 45k
    LC starts around 55k
    and GX starts around 65k
Sequoia if you’re dumb enough to want one we’ll take 75k off your hands

and any option raises those prices astronomically

They must sell very well in that part of the country.

Yea it’s been increasing in price because it’s jumped dramatically in popularity from 2014 onward, look at the sales numbers. So if Toyota can get away with selling a 14 year old vehicle for these prices it’s not surprising. Your reading comprehension could use some work.

The Grand Highlander is also in the $45K range. So many SUVs all at the same price point once options are added.

Inflation probably played a bit of a role too.
What I’m saying is that the current 4Runner price is already high. Now we get a redesign to make to $8-10K more expensive. Yeah!!
