    I was born and grew up in Los Angeles area, went in the Army right after high school, then moved up to Chico for college. I lived in the general Placerville area from 1994 until 2022, then my wife and I, her parents, and brother all moved to southeast Kentucky. In addition to the politics, we don't miss the 110*+F summer days of NorCal..... or PG&E shutting off the power every few days just because they can... or the annual summer fire season. The big Caldor fire from a few years ago started about 10 miles from our house in El Dorado.

    The fires have been nuts. I had an electrician on my job last year who lost everything in one those fires. It was a lightning strike, They called Cal -Fire for three hours letting them know, but no one showed up. Now a group has a lawsuit against the state for it. The state has just let the woods go to crap. Back in the 80-90s there was no issues with big fires. Forest was managed

    This is spot on.

    The Camp Fire in 2016/2017... my grandparents lived in Paradise for about 20ish years, after my grandfather retired in the early 70's. I actually rented my great-aunt's house (right next door to grandparents) while I was going to Chico State. My grandparents were both passed on by the time of the Camp fire, but this is where their house, and my great aunt's used to be...

    SMUD is a little better, but the way the Governor and PUC are running things, all utility companies in CA are not worth much anymore. Surprise blackouts "just because...", ever sky rocketing rate hikes.....

    I really love PG&E's latest trick of deciding that each household will not pay for their actual usage, but rather a percentage of their annual income, regardless of usage. I really do wonder what the politicians are going to do when they have chased all the working people and businesses out of the state and there is no longer any tax base for them to steal from.
