Well the buttons where I want it now and has backlight, but it just won’t turn on/off. After doing more thinking and looking at harness pictures I think it can only be installed one way. So maybe a wire isn’t pinned properly? I’m electronically challenged and at a loss. I’ll see what Bob says.

For my sanity: will the ECT Light turn on on the dash by speedometer even when you are in Park? Asking for my future testing.

Bob said the backlight is the 2 center wires and ECT power is 2 outer wires of the harness - so 2 separate circuits. He said he tests every harness on his truck and asked me to try reseating the harness on both ends.

So to avoid potentially paying more labor on a self-supplied part I’m going to try and find some videos on removing plastic trim pieces and try reseating both ends of the harness myself. :/

Edit: in my original post when referring to ECT light not turning on/off dash I was referring to the light that comes on by speedometer - not switch button backlight.

I would think unlikely, but definitely a possibility. Anything can happen when messing with wiring :/ Don’t think I’ll know more until I dive in.

That’s what I was thinking. Thank you! That’ll help when I dive in and start troubleshooting.

No name Amazon tonneau cover installed. It's no fancy expensive flush mount one, but I'm happy with it. Can now securely store dive and boat gear.

You could buy it from crutchfields and have them make up the harness for you.

Yes, just tell them about your vehicle (make, model, trim) and the part you are wanting to install. They will make you a plug and play ready harness. I don't think it costs very much.
