Well, I’m finally doing it… converting to propane for fireplace and selling the woodstove. Just posted it Resolute Acclaim Woodstove
I think I’m finally just tired of hauling wood, but always loved the smell and feel…..

I did this 20 years ago. Yes, there is nothing like the smell of burning cherry wood, but there is so much work involved in a wood burning fireplace versus propane. We have a timer on ours so it turns on when the room reaches a certain temperature, like a furnace. The maintenance is minimal and propane is not that expensive. Of course wood is almost free, if you harvest it yourself.

Good morning. It’s been close to 10 years on converting from a wood stove to propane for me as well. It’s nice just pressing a button on the remote.

That's a beautiful old style stove!

I keep the traditional wood burner for "just in case".. we only use it about twice a year on holidays because she can see it from the kitchen & likes to watch the fire while she cooks Holliday meals.

Then we have the gas log fireplace in the living room. As said its really nice to just push a button & be driven out of the room in a couple minutes. :)

Then again she already keeps the house at 70* all winter.

The main thing is to have enough propane to outlast whatever natural disaster might happen.
Got enough for the Genny which runs the house to last several months, then the fireplace is on its own smaller tank & have several of those stored up full out in the barn.

So far the all day rain has stayed north of us.

Thanks, I think she’s got a lot of life in her, hoping she’ll find a nice new home to keep warm.

    Morning all

When I bought a house it had to have a fireplace. Converted it to gas and maybe used it once a year.
City came by and shut it down. It wasn't meant for gas and was a fire hazard...ironic.

Waiting to have it cleaned and will go back to wood. I'm ok with that. Thought I had tons of ash to burn but all went purple with fungus.

Maybe I will mount a monitor in there and just have a image of a burning fire.

Good morning everybody! Another day and another episode of this old house. I have the biggest part of the painting finished in the master bathroom but it’s on pause for a minute. I’m changing directions on the baseboard and door trim going with a more modern look. And I’m over the pancake and hoses so Amazon promises my cordless finish nailer will be here tomorrow. I guess they don’t get Easter off. Happy Saturday everybody!
