For Shimano, I preferred the Saints on a mountain bike since they had more of a platform. That was especially nice if you had to try and jump on the pedals right before a feature, they were more confident if you weren’t clipped in because you still had a decent sized pedal under your feet with pins.
That said, I’m running XTRs on my gravel bike and love them. I had them on my mountain bike initially and broke a piece off one of the clips from a rock strike. They’re good pedals but I preferred the Saints when things were chunky.
No experience with Crank Bros so can’t help you there.

If you’re talking xtr trails then those are good for 90% of riding. I’d go XT to save a couple bucks though. I’ve had some XT trail pedals for at least 5 years and they are still going strong

That said, with my 5.10 kestrels (older version more DH style not new xc style) I find that the platform doesn’t provide enough support when I’m riding more aggressively on flat turns. I’m not sure how the 2fo would compare.

That’s pretty common with insurance especially at that weight. You can also use a bike shop because they’ll get frequent shipping discounts.

i used to ship my own but as of late the last two I’ve had the shop “professionally” do because it’s the same price even street paying their boxing fee.

Same pedal afaik, the omen is just made in the us. Depends if you value American made at an extra $75 for the same design. Or that deep purple….
Here’s my umber V1 occults after 1k of rocky Utah riding.
Notes: bearing reliability is slightly worse than others. Need a refresh. Though they do come with one free and the following are pretty cheap at $25 for a full kit including pins.
Color seems to fade easier. Not an issue with silver or even umber. I kinda like the fade that developed. I would hesitate on darker colors though.
Pins strength is amazing. Haven’t changed one. I’ve never had a pedal that I didn’t have to change at least 6-12 per season.
Grip is killer. Though that means it’ll munch your soles damn fast. I really like their concave too, not too much just enough to cradle.
I’ve been in tons of pedals. Feel free to ask if you want my input on any others you’re thinking. I am considering waveforms next…
**Sorry for the HUGE pics. Thought it would be helpful to see details.

    I'm partial to
I have the DX for DH riding and the XTRs for trail. Can't tell the difference between them until I'm unclipped. The DX are easier to find center and get back into under pressure. Both pairs have taken a beating no problems. Shimano shoes also btw. I only ride clips like 20% of the time these days. (When I'm in super srs mode) Can't beat that security when pedaling over chunk.

On another note, I saw that 2fo sale and bought two pair. Very nice shoes for $50. The Roosts while looking very similar are significantly more flexible than the DH. The rubber is the same on both and feels quite grippy. I had also recently bought a pair of Freerider pros but found they were like half a size too big. They're also dimensionally enormous and heavy. (A whole inch longer than the 2fo) The rubber is amazing as always but I couldn't get over the moon boot feeling.

Tldr: Jump on the 2fo sale if you need mtb shoes.

It’s those or race face atlas Is what I’m down to

Edit: Ordered silver Occults. Couldn't find a reason not to. Decent price for a full metal flat pedal.

Yeah, price and performance is killer on those.
I liked the atlas. Some people don’t get along with the inner bulge, like the Oneup, but i ride duck and never feel them.
I also really like the Oneup, but the tenet have a better underfoot feel.
Tmacs are killer too. But those pins were super fragile for me, and bearing life were just ok.

Thanks for suggestions on pedals, ill probably stick with the Saints as they wider pedal is more appealing for me.

You like them? LBS has some in their discount bin. I have the Aluminum ones that are beat up from rock strikes and was thinking of trying them out.

Seasucker better use that in a post, such a cool pic.

As for WahWah2’s I had a pair when they first came out but snapped them in 5-6 rides. I like everything about em but didn’t give em a second chance.

Visited my parents and hit the local trails. They built a new rollable drop and I was pretty impressed.

I only wanted atlas cus they make them in an orange that would match my stem and grips lol. Sold on Tenet though. I also am slightly more inclined to support a smaller business coming into a niche area like mountain biking as opposed to a giant like race face. My bike I bought used just happened to come with some raceface stuff on it already.

I do remember my race face chester pins being really easy to crunch when I'd ride in Phoenix, granted on that bike I'd pedal strike a ton as a newer rider and 27.5 f/r bike on trails that were like 80% rock

Entirely unrelated to above post. Heavily considering entering in the CA enduro Northstar race. Never raced before and I ride bikepark at northstar just for fun. Would be a new experience for me. But I'd likely place super low so I might as well do simulated races and just pick and choose segments to ride at 95% pace on my days up at northstar if that makes sense.

Do that one day at start of season and one day at the end maybe just to see my personal timing improvement over the season.

Anyone had a problem with the arms on their 1Up rack getting hard to raise and lower?

I went for a ride and when I got back to the car the lower part that locks the arm in place was really hard to move. Used to be able to hold the lever and the arm would slide right along but now almost have to hold the locking mechanism and the lever in place to get it to slide.

I can’t see anything obvious wrong with it so thought I would check here before giving 1up a shout next week.

    Totally normal.
Spray some silicone lube on all the seals first. If that doesn’t fix it you’ll need to check the torque on some of those bolts. They tend to self tighten over time. Just back em off a little.

    not enough.
Second what @abacall says. It probably squeaks to high hell as well eh? Silicon lube or recheck the bolts. Usually fixes it right up for me.
