    Really?

If those numbers are right, that’s not bad at all.

    I’ve got a lowly 990# payload… :sadviolin:
No issues though, my truck does everything I ask it to.

Some people on TW would say a 990# payload is a pathetic number.

Sorry man, it is by today's standards. It's still competitive on the low end, but even the #1200 on the new Taco is sad compared to the class leaders. I run into issues with it all the time when towing. Especially since I have a cap as well.

I've got a cool 1K so I am not judging lol.

No I meant to say “it isn’t pathetic?”. Of course it is, I always said 3G payload is a joke, and it is. I do overload my truck and it does just fine though.

Just don’t understand why some TW members gotta be dicks for absolutely no reason.

Not according to Toyota due to gvwr being the lowest. I imagine the trailhunter will be the highest due to its overlanding suspension.

I imagine it has a lot to do with people shitting on the 4th gen payload while having significantly less causes the abrasive reaction.

I mean we are all entitled to our own opinions, and that’s totally cool. Payload on 4G is pathetic just like it’s on a 3G. In general, I find 4G not impressive at all. I hope that’s alright.;)

Some folks just can’t seem to take someone’s else’s opinion without acting like children.

If I recall correctly, trailhunter also has larger brakes to accommodate for higher payload.

No doubt. I like the 4th gen overall, but I like some of the competition a little bit better in certain areas. Payload is not great on the avg. 4th gen and will be noted by me as a disappointment as well.

Unless I buy one, then it's perfect for my needs lol.

Not impressed tbh. Tow rating actually went down compared to 3rd gen and payload numbers on the volume trims that matter barely improved. The 1st Gen Tundra had up to 1900lbs payload and more than 7000lbs of tow capacity. The 4th gen is almost as large, heavy and with more power and torque than the 1st gen Tundra.

Tow rating for 4wd models remained the same as the 3g, fwiw

The only number that matters really for towing is payload, unless you live alone and don’t put any accessories or tools in/on your truck

While childish I thought my comment was funny and was just messing around. My 4g is scheduled to be built next week or so I'm just preparing my defensive snarky comments.

I figured the TH would have the highest payload capacity but not the case according to Toyota.

The most important component regarding load capacity are the axles. Specifically, the load rating of the bearings and hubs.

You can have tons of power, fancy suspension, trick brakes....but guess what happens if you seriously overload? Tear up the axles.

This is why a 80's or 90's one ton truck can be rated as one ton despite probably having less engine power than the 2.4T, and probably rear drum brakes too...look at the hubs and axles.
