different parts. I don't remember, you gave me your LSD ring and pinion (not carrier) for free right?
I still have it. In storage now bottom shelf.
Thanks again. Didn't know if I'd need it or not. Ended up not needing it.
If you want it back you can have it.
Or if it was free, if anyone else wants it free, they can as well pay it forward keep it going

so, pretty much found a whole third member
took it to a gear place had them put in 4.88 + truetrac
brought it home slapped it in the truck

and this pictured above is what I pulled out of the truck factory original

Definitely feels better in a lot of ways 4.88 but one drawback seems overgeared too high RPM on highway cruising.
Seeing reports of folks getting better city mpg than highway with these kinds of ratios which sounds consistent with that.
Don't know if 4.10, 4.30, 4.56 would've been better. Anything taller. Oh well, too late for that.

probably in part due to 6th gear in the RA60F 6MT being known as not very good of an overdrive.
    FJ Cruiser for example, "same" trans, RA61F I think, 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th same ratio
6th taller, calculator says 150rpm lower highway cruise
another drawback with 6MT, notorious throwout bearing design. One solution? Swap in RC62F 6MT from 3rd gen that addresses that.

Don't know how their ratios differ though, on each gear.
Let's see I'll plug it in right now http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
    70mph, 35's, 4.88, 6th gear
    RA60F: 2787 RPM
    RC62F: 2328 RPM
    big difference
don't know how everything else compares

    RA60F
    -1st: 4.17
    -2nd: 2.19
    -3rd: 1.49
    -4th 1.19
    -5th 1.00
    -6th 0.85

    RC62F:
    -1st: 3.98
    -2nd: 2.02
    -3rd: 1.32
    -4th 1.00
    -5th 0.85
    -6th 0.71

    RA61F FJ 6MT, 6th is 0.80

taller 6th would be a benefit, but I have no idea why every single gear in the 3rd gen trans is taller as opposed to only 6th being taller in FJ
if that is why 4.88 and 5.29 seems more common on 3rd gen,
or if due to the higher revving of the 3.5L (peak torque is probably at higher RPM) pairing it with taller gears they intend to be revved out more

just outta curiosity plugged in Auto trans A750F
    5th, 70mph, 35's, 4.88
    2361 RPM

    -1st 3.52
    -2nd 2.04
    -3rd 1.40
    -4th 1.00
    -5th 0.72
pretty much every single gear is taller + less gears (5th in manual RA60F is 1.00 while 4th AT is 1.00)

No worries on my end. I’m on 4.88 with a truetrac. Getting 15mpg on 285x75x17. Didn’t know if you needed up using the gears or not. Yes stock ring and pinion with LSD.

do you think it’s overgeared or undergeared
If overgeared one fix is bigger tires

if undergeared, cam gears, ECU tune (OTT)
    Supercharger, motor swap
    XTP intake spacers
    Exhaust work
    Thinner lighter aluminum armor
Changing gear ratio again to something shorter
    Manual swap
Maybe auto trans computer shift behavior relearn procedure (if applicable)
Some small and cheap some not so much
Don’t know if those fancy red bullet $500 VVTI solenoids are worth it

would be great if it’s possible to add the second VVTI supposedly 4runner and certain tundra 4.0 V6 had…

RA61F or RC62F might be an upgrade over a stock 6MT RA60F but they ain’t cheap and that’s just the trans before anything else

not exactly diagnosing but just threw a new FPR (fuel pressure regulator) at my truck, behind intake by firewall

truck feels good but with the high cruising 6th RPM kinda wish I would’ve just gone 4.56 and think about adding a crawlbox later, unless that’s just a trans 6th gear thing not to be attributed to the diffs

I don’t think so but yall have my number if you ever need anything, if not PM me

Was thinking to do VOTM up gatekeeper again bring Prius friend passenger show him the dark side
or try corral canyon sidewinder (haven’t looked what else there is nearby) which seems temporarily closed atm possibly from rain
After hammer pinch weld flat ASAP to stop rubbing it, when this rain clears to put seam sealer

4th gen 6MT is the path forward. @BLtheP is trying to get there.
