My point is that a lot of Carfax, Dealers just look up by VIN and it incorrectly labels it as a PRO when it is not. So when people get so excited that a truck they are looking to buy seems “rare” and is overpriced but isn’t a pro, that’s the issue. I was just trying to warn OP to help not get taken in a deal. Sorry you got so offended and don’t have a Pro. I don’t have a Pro either.

No worries: I'm not offended and your point is well taken: But there are tell-tale differences, well-documented in here on how to zero-in on the fakes that have the "Pro" fender stickers. I almost bought one of these (2015) and realized last-minute that it was a "sticker queen" fake. It even had the one-off Heritage grille.

I’m glad I didn’t upset you and to your point that you almost were taken, but weren’t. My 2015 TRD OffRoad is a TRD Faux - OEM Pro Grill (not a cheap knockoff), paint matched grille surround, rear bumper, scooped hood, etc… The only three things I’m missing to not be an official pro is Black/white/inferno paint, turn signal mirrors and the TRD exhaust.

Not to be a downer, but the PRO Grille is the Heritage grill as it
is based on old school Yotas that had Toyota lettering, so the PRO is ripping them off! My first pickup, an 80’s reggie had a Toyota badge on the right. I believe Land Cruisers and the FJ as well. Why it’s a Heritage grill. My Heritage Grille just takes me back in time….and I had a heritage style on my 2013, prior to any TRD PRO.

I think it’s important to know who we are ripping off. Lol

1986 4R…I worked at Gove Toyota as a shop bitch when this came out. I still remember my excitement.

One of the only vehicles to retain their value. Hopefully that doesn't change with the new Gens

Upset with you??? Nahhhhhh:  It's all good: Life is too short. Understand: I have no issues with a TRD look-alike at all. It's fun! To wit: I have a Heritage PRO grille on my 2014. (and the SR5 badge still on the tailgate... "SR5 PRO" ?: No such model. lol

I've never liked the strange Toyota emblem and when I saw them put the Heritage grille on the 2015 Pro I thought: I want to do that if I ever get a 2nd-Gen. It's only when a dealer tries to slip one by that upsets me. I kept the chrome surround on the grille. (I know) But at least it's an OEM insert, so they cancel each other out right ? :D

Oh for sure! I should've specified often imitated as in the TRD Faux aftermarket swaps (no judgement I did it). I love legacy/heritage Toyota branding and styling. I've swapped all Yota logos out including wheel center caps for TOYOTA. I've been considering options for the steering wheel logo as it's the last standing...

I’m grille badge sensitive. I just don’t think the round T emblem looks good on trucks. Too soft.

I’m 55, the Heritage simply looks right. Like a fat chrome roll bar on a 1980 pickup.

Let me know if you figure the steering wheel emblem. Lol

Me too: The chrome finish is wearing off in spots on the one on my steering wheel. I'd remove it and restore it, but it's a risk as unknown if it's press fit/held in place with locating pins, just a stick on, or if it's only available with a new airbag. (!$$$!)

The good news is that you got the better of the two trucks (I previously owned a third gen).

The bad news is that it appears you did not actually purchase a TRD Pro.

I'd be interested too. Etsy is a bust so far on my searches. They have about 10,000 TRD stickers though! :D

The other good news is the price seems to match his vehicle, which also seems extremely clean. I found a couple pros online over 100k in the low to mid 30’s.

So, in the end, semantics. And the OP has a gorgeous truck that didn’t cost a small fortune.

I have always been more in favor of the trd offroad rather than the pro. Cant go wrong with either but less miles is something I always try to get.
