The vortex/LS motors are incredibly reliable, with huge aftermarket support that can get you much more than 18hp... not to mention completely different suspension setups, the Chevies are not nearly as robust as the LC. Not to mention a difference in wheelbase, ground clearances, etc. to play devil's advocate, you should have just gotten a Rav4 since it does 99.9% of what your truck does. And all of this is coming from someone who doesn't like LC's but objectively it's easy to see why throwing in a pushrod V8 makes a lot of sense vs using and inferior platform from the start.

I'm still looking forward to your Taco V8 swap.

I grew up GM and have owned everything from an L98, LT1, LT4, many LS variants and more.

Haven't killed a single one with the exception of a 700R4 in one of my Vettes.

I don't think it's going to come to light to be honest. With no garage, I don't have anything in the works for it. At this point the LS is in my storage unit waiting for better days. I want to throw it in something some day, just doubt it'll be the truck at this point.

To your comment about a 6BT, it was awesome wheeling the power stroke last week. Gobs of torque, nearly could idle through everything. First time wheeling an automatic too which was enlightening, sooo much easier when you have equal feet to pedals ration.

Dislike the first part of that post :(

But makes sense, engine swap is a larger undertaking than say, replacing 20k mile LBJs or carrier bearing in an apartment parking lot

The 18 hp comment was referring to the 2UZ.

I do understand why the swap is so popular, since the LS motors are so compact, light, and easy to tune.

But to me, there's just something about lifting the hood and seeing that big ass inline under there. I think that's part of the charm to a lot of the Cruiser "purists" out there - the old straight sixes might be slow, leaky, and inefficient, but they have a lot of character.

I don't even have the option of doing that. Need to bum a driveway for oil changes even. But I'll figure something out. Currently occupying my time with the camera stuff instead of car stuff, sadly.

You were just dogging the GM V8 swaps, now you're praising them?

Dude, don't talk about a platform many others here are actually experienced with.

Y’all know of a way to make the lsvp bias more to the front? It’s waaay too easy to lock up my right rear tire.

Or should I just rip it out and go manual?

Manually lower it (still hooked to the axle?) The more that rod hangs down the less pressure there is in the rear

Hmmmm,. I’ll get under it and look. It sits higher than stock, which I figured would have already reduced pressure to the rear.

Dealers here are doing, "Finance Assist Incentive," discounts of a whopping $1k. Yet they still want $45K for a two door Sport. I'm sure many people driving them can't afford 'em anyway, and it seems like people have finally just stopped buying new. About time.

    Naw

Some models just did particularly worse than expected, hence the incentive on certain models.

Just like the Charger GT's where they'd have a steep 4,000 to 5,000 in rebates, along with another 3,000 - 4,000 in discount because who would want to spend $32-33k on a V6 Charger that looks like a V8 when a few more grand gets you a base model Scatpack?

It's the same for the Mojave. It had 'premium' components but was valved for "fast" running versus crawling like the Rubicon.

Plus, spending Rubicon money for a Jeep that isn't a Rubicon is frowned upon in the Jeep community

So, trying to get rid of a vehicle for a market that didn't exist.

Plenty of people buy vehicles they can barely afford (including plenty of 3rd Gen owners on this forum!) but plenty of people can easily afford such vehicles and will even pay cash. Not everyone is affected by the current market.

I never see Mojaves. I've seen a few of the MOABs, I don't know much about their packaging, so I don't know what they all mean. That particular $1k incentive is across all Jeep models though. And then some have another $2,000 off for the National Retail Cash Bonus promo thing, while select Gladiators and others have added discounts by the dealer as usual because they sit. Sales guy just said people aren't spending on 'em at the moment after the prices went up. $52k for a 2 door Rubi after discounts is certainly a choice.

Burl wood interior for a touch of class and plenty of room for the brood.
