I don't even remember mine..
My school was a day time detention facility for wayward youths [aka public school], as long as we didn't kill each other

I feel like smart people can find a way out of most anything and/or find a way to be happy/drama free.
Unfortunately there aren't very many smart people [who can cope appropriately] anymore..

 

Uhhh no..

Sometimes I wake up and reach out and feel his back legs - I am like WTF dog!!!

 

I honestly had no clue WTF to do with my life after high school, but I knew that if I didn't have some sort of plan... my dad would *find* a plan for me, and it probably would not have been anything I would have been happy about. Just after the start of my Senior year in HS, my best friend enlisted in the Army, on the Delayed Entry Program. He convinced me to enlist as well, since I had no better plan. It was peace time in 1985, so there was no big push to get people into the Combat Arms MOS's (Infantry, Armor, Artillery....), and my Recruiter was actually a decent guy. He looked at my ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) and high school grades, and told me I qualified for anything the Army had, and actually tried hard to convince me to go into a tech-type field. I ended up picking an electronics related field (T.O.W. Missile Systems Repair). My Advanced Training was 6 months long, heavy on the electronics part, then the last couple months on the T.O.W. Missile system and its various control system components.

That was my first introduction to anything "technology" related, and I actually quite liked it. So a couple years later, when it became obvious a career in the Army was not likely to be very productive (it being peace time, it was all but impossible to get promotions), and no one had any idea that in just another couple years after I got out, the first of the wars in the Middle East would start up, thus making promotions and advancement much easier... I decided to not re-enlist, and use my GI Bill to get an Engineering degree.

My dad was a Plumber, and had taken me on weekend side jobs with him from age 5 or 6, all the way until I graduated high school. He taught me a ton of shit about residential plumbing. I actually worked for a local family Plumbing company during my first year in college. I went to school in the mornings, and then worked with one of the 3 brothers who owned the company until the end of the day, then went home and did my school work.

I look at some of my high school friends now, a couple are now retired military and have 2nd careers in process, and others are nearing the end of successful careers in various other fields, without benefit of a Degree. I'm currently in the middle of my 4th extended period of unemployment since 2010

Life can go in some pretty wild and unexpected directions......

We’re only as old as we feel. So we must be 85? Anyway…

 

So, I met a tourist today from Arkansas. He’s camping in the Walmart parking lot. I swear his dog has to be Ol’ Roy’s great grandson. Anyway, he introduced me to his wife and sister. He only had one woman with him

 

We don’t have an official town drunk. We all take turns
