Well that definitely adds to the cool factor for me. See if you can find it, if you want to trade it, and let me know what you're interested in via PM.

Very nice collection to pass on to you....Matchbox not as popular as Hot Wheels BUT still very collectable and highly desired. Just looking at some of your cars/trucks and carded mid 1970's early 80's go from 10-100 plus on the market. Each vehicle is different and some people collect style/s (truck/car/fire rescue) so on...so prices depends on buyer. Paying for college fund? Probably not but if you have these cars, you can get some good money to a collector. Very nice! It’s pretty much anything die cast or toy car related. The cars you posted in that pic are all worth something to somebody. Without knowing all of them I can see a few that are around $10 give or take. Some people want them in the box not the blister. You should be able sell a few on here but some of those doubles you’re better off keeping or giving them away. Remember it’s not what people are asking for them, it’s what people are getting for them.

    Welcome!

I personally prefer Matchbox over Hot Wheels. They tend to be more realistic OEM style cars while Hot Wheels can sometimes be a litttle out there with their hot rod styles, flames etc. But Hot Wheels seem to be more popular in general.

For some reason certain models are a lot more collectible and therefor more valuable than others. On the older models, often, when it has loose parts (that you don't get anymore due to liability of kids swallowing it etc.) you get premium price if you have it original with all these parts; motorcycles on a truck, surf boards on cars, animals etc.
For instance the yellow Ford Wild Life truck. It comes with a cap and a lion in the bed. Without these it is worth $5. With these, in the package or box, it can be $100.

I was getting ready to ask about that yellow number 57 if that was a 67-72 Ford F100 (and it is) but ouch on the price they are going for. That's the first time I've seen that one.

As you already mentioned.. people can put any price on them they want.. but actually selling it is a different story.

I know this far too well. I see the same people every year at the same shows trying to sell the same cars they’ve been trying to sell for years.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try to get them down this week and take some pictures.

Where is the best place to post them for sale? eBay? Etsy? Amazon? The thought of listing and shipping hundreds of these on eBay for $5-10 fills me with dread, and then there are stories of buyers claiming they never received the item... Is there a marketplace that has better seller protections?

You can do eBay or other online stuff for the more valuable ones. The smaller ones are harder to sell because of the shipping. Those ones you can sell in a lot if you wanted to. Look for auto show/swap meets around you. You can rent a spot and table cheap at some of them but you do have to pack it bring it, unpack it set up and then pack it all up again at the end.

Edit… should have said start here first. See if you have any takers.

How many of these do you think you have?

If you think you're going to get $100 for each one, you're going to have to sell them individually.

People like me are ok with buying in bulk but I'm not going to pay top dollar.
