Hello everyone.

I had to go to Target after work and get some oil filters for the Taco and T4R, so I stopped at koons. They had 2 new Taco's on the lot, both 4door short beds. I didn't even go to have a closer look, just not my 'cup of tea' as the saying goes. More power to anyone that likes them.

If you've ever been wary of koons service dept being crooked, I over heard and saw something that permanently cemented the thought in my brain as pure truth. As the parts guy was grabbing my filters, there was a huge box of NAPA parts off to one side of the counter. A tech walked up and asked if it was ready to grab so he could do a repair. A voice on the other side of the parts shelf said loudly: " not yet, I need to finish looking up the Toyota p/n's for billing". I'm pretty sure they had no idea that I was standing there. So apparently I take it that they charge a customer for Toyota parts and use Napa parts instead.

 

The Marine Corps had a similar effect on me, camping has never quiet been the same.

I can only hope that one day I get to return the hospitality that they've shown me and my GF. Absolutely great people!

 

Bought my 2019 Tacoma, a 2020 and 2021 Camry hybrid from them and was treated well. Went back in March of '23 for a Lunar Rock Tacoma Pro and when the salesman that I'd purchased the two Camry from told me it was $17k over MSRP I ROFL and haven't been (will never go) back.

 

Yeppp, that sounds about right. It’s such a shame that dealerships just can’t be trusted.

That's nuts on the markup.. I've never attempted to buy a vehicle from them and I stayed away for any service after I had contacted them about performing the frame inspection on the Taco. They told me that I'd have to pay for the inspection and schmoo application and car rental then file a claim with Toyota for reimbursement after it was completed. The stealership in Hanover, PA did the inspection and gave me a new Corolla to drive around for a few days.

 

You know Walmart sells oem Toyota oil filters for like 7-8 bucks.

Good evening, I hope that no one got any water into their basements or anything like that.

I'd be paranoid that they are counterfeit, even if they are legit. The ones from the parts dept were only $6 each including the drain plug gasket, but I do appreciate you telling me that those are available at the wally-world. The only that I go to WW is to get the Rotella T6 for the T4R at a good price.

I think the last oil filter I bought at Toyota was like $5.50. Why mess around with something else? Filters at the parts store are more $

 

Since January '23 we've purchased my Pro and the wife's Rav 4 Hybrid from Hanover. One our daughters bought a CPO '22 Corolla Nightshade as well. They've got a customer for life as long as they keep treating me the way they have thus far.

If Walmart were to sell counterfeit oem parts, that would be a big liability. I learned something new though, I’ll have to check my local dealer to see how much they charge. I’ve always heard pricing depended on the dealer. Some folks are paying $10+ for an oil filter from the parts dept.
