Well that’s annoying what’s the point of buying a plug and play harness then.

How would you propose making a plug and play harness for an infinite variety of options? Having wired up more automotive accessories than I can count, I'd say DD did it the best way that could be expected.

Okay - and do you have OEM halogen headlights?

The purple blade style connectors attach to one another. You’ll unplug the big connector that goes into the back of the headlight, and the black connector (far left) just snaps inline.

    Hopefully that all made sense.

I do yes. Ya so it’s only on when your headlights are on from understanding then. Which would be the exact same time I’d run my fogs

are: reverse aux lights, is there an amp limit?

I have aux lights and want to add a lamp bar
    Similar to this

    IMG_4158.jpg

For example, I have DD SSC1 aux lights
    Three
One is hitch pod with brake flash reverse
Others are just red parking or white reverse

Ram TRX lamp bar draws 0.3A
VLEDS LPX is that, but with added brake glow and white reverse 2000lumen

saw someone do something similar. Seemed to work.

don’t want to overload with too many amps
I’m guessing that’s a simple math calculation based on wire gauges and whatever fuse is in the circuit, that may match wire gauge.

hardest part would probably be figuring out what is powering what from where. As the C1 hitchpod plugs into the tow.

the C1 aux reverse pair may not be a factor because they came with a harness to run to the battery. Their adapter plug into the tail light I assume is for low voltage signal, not power.

Haven’t decided between VLED LPX 3amp or Ram TRX 0.3A bar. TRX bar is cheaper but less function + big and ugly with tiny mount holes. Could entail coarse screws into inserts, or rivet nuts and spacers for either one.

Truck could be around the point of too many lights. Only way to find out will be have someone drive while I follow for a performance check at night to see how it looks. Thing is turning into a fire truck

    IMG_4159.jpg

could just run things then wait and see if any fuses pop.

It would be one thing if you purchased a set of lights specifically designed and advertised as DRL's and complained if you had a problem with them. But the Diode Dynamics SS3 Sports - regardless of the beam pattern - are not designed or advertised as replacement DRL's. The backlight feature is strictly a cosmetic item. If you had a problem with them, you should have reached out directly to DD and I'm sure they would have cheerfully refunded your money.

I don't understand why you continually bash a top tier supplier and site supporter with comments like this.

Back light is no more than a glow, never intended as anything else. Similar to a marker light.

Anyone have ss2s in a good spot for backup or camp lights. I’m getting bigger ones for my ditch lights and will have 2 white ssc2 extra

I used to have two SS2 knockoffs mounted in pre-existing bolt holes by my hitch for a while before I upgraded to flush mounted SS3s in my bumper. IDK if your 3rd gen has similar holes for the bolts to go through. Linked post from my build thread below:
