2011 JBL W/ Bluetooth...ringer volume

How do I change the ringer volume on the 2011 Taco W/ JBL Audio. I searched through previous posts and tried several different ways. I tried adjusting the lady's voice on the prompts and I tried changing my phone ringer volume but neither has changed the ringer volume of the truck. Every time it rings while driving it's so loud that it causes me to jerk the wheel when I am not expecting it. Any ideas?

 

I have...only thing in the manual is about changing the volume of the voice prompts

 

sorry to bump this thread, but whippersnapper02, are you saying to adjust the volume while the phone is ringing? I had my wife call me with my truck radio volume min and my phone at minimum...it is still loud as hell.

I just tried adjusting the volume while the phone is ringing, and it did work to adjust the ringer volume, but doesn't change the lady's voice who speaks during the help prompts. She's loud as hell still! I've tried everything to change that, even calling the stealership. Any other ideas? Maybe I have a faulty unit?

 

I haven't been able to figure this one out either. Seems silly that you can adjust the other volumes but not the set up voice. But I thought I remembered a member on TW telling me that.

 

Have you guys tried using the volume control on the steering wheel?

I just tried it (just to make sure) and it worked to reduce the ringer volume...

 

Yes, I know it works for the ringer and the voice of the caller, but what about the voice command woman? Mine is still loud and cant figure out how to turn her down. lol.

 

I'll have to check that out again, I looked briefly once, but thought someone told me that her voice wasn't adjustable so I didn't look too terribly close into it.

 

Since I got it set up, I haven't had to deal with her.

But I just went out in the truck and re-traced my tracks.

It goes like this:

Press the "talk" button on the steering wheel.

When you see "listening" on the display say "setup"

When she says "setup" turn the tuning knob on the head unit right three clicks until you see "system setup".

Press the tuning knob and she will say "system setup".

After that, turn the tuning knob to the right one click until you see guidance volume.

From there use the RADIO volume knob to adjust your guidance volume up or down.

"1" is plenty for me...

 

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!! If you look in the owners manual, it shows under "Setup", is a "System Setup" menu. Under that menu is "Guidance Volume" which is what I was trying to do. Problem is, when you walked through the voice prompts, "System Setup" was never an option. The way I was able to get into System Setup was using the "Tune-File" knob.

So, to accomplish this... Press the appropriate button to prompt a voice command. When prompted, say "Setup". At this point go to the "Tune-File" knob on the right side of the stereo unit, and rotate it one click at a time until it says "System Setup" on the screen. Now push the knob to select. You will then rotate the knob again until it says "Guidance Vol" and push the knob to select.

The prompt will then tell you the volume that its set at as an example, and you can rotate the knob to adjust it up or down. Once you have it set, push the button again to select. Then hang up.

I set mine at 2, and sounds about right. Why couldn't Toyota have made this a little more intuitive???

 

x2.. salesman showed me how to setup the bluetooth and first thing i asked him was how do i adjust the volume cuz the combination of the high pitched beep and the volume made me jump each time.

ok, I am coming to this party late but it isnt working for me.

I can turn the lady down, no problems there.
If the phone is ringing I can use the volume controls on the steering wheel to turn it down., but it doesnt stay down. Every other car Toyota makes it works that way. but for some reason it is not working on any of the jbl tacomas stereos I have tried. Kinda frustrating since I work for Toyota. No where in the manual tells you how to adjust the ringer volume for good. So for those of you that say it worked, Did the adjusting the volume on the steering wheel while the phone is ringing, turn it down for good or just for that call?

it is the only stereo that doesnt work that way for me.. . weird,

not only does it not stay turned down, but it will give one loud ring, then play the ring town from my phone through the car stereo speakers . And I tried it on three different trucks.

 

I will try it today with a different phone. The customer that brought it to my attention had the i phone 4 and so do I , so I will try it on my other evo phone today and see if it is the phone
