I know the feeling, when we did our deck I got a carpenter friend to help frame it up and attach it to the house. That way I knew it would meet code. Ours is 12x24 but a few things. All up rights the ends touching the ground/ concrete footing should be dipped in tar, wood has capillary action. The size you are talking make sure you overkill the footings as you may consider adding closed in structure as you wallet grows. In the future. The tip for no spacing on treated, hi5. Mine was a eighth inch now in some spots it's almost a half (24 years) . Last but not least my friend cut wind bracing in an X pattern best thing ever done. At the time I put mine on I just wanted help with the framing I completed it myself.

I went that route a few years ago and the calipers froze after one winter. NH loves their salt treatments during the winter…. I sincerely hope your mileage varies

Another 12-16 inches forecast for Wednesday into Thursday.

On a positive note, the cloud forecast is clearing up for 4/8 around these parts :goingcrazy:.

Good morning everyone, I hope you have a decent Tuesday.

Something something about there's mercury in your Gatorade or whatever.. but you sorta skipped over the part about your niece moving out so that's good.. and relieves you from any further lug nut responsibility... so count that as a win! Oh and it's tomorrow already.

And she's taking her dog with her... eventually.

And I get 1/3 of my garage back!

Good Tuesday morning friends! Hope everyone has a blessed day :hattip:

My wife invited the people over (guy who built decks) for supper Saturday and told me they were coming then showed me a text last night from her and said he left again and is back to heavy drinking.

For those that know me, being sober for 12 years, that hurts me for her most but also for him. He's a good guy, just fighting a battle right now

Building a deck is probably the easiest thing you can build, especially nowadays when you can buy all the hangars and can screw things together.
I have built a few decks for myself and several for others, starting back when you nailed everything and you toenailed and built your own crossbracing.
And the best part... every tim you go on your deck you have the satisfaction of knowing it was done right.

So, perhaps a delay in the deck getting started, but perhaps there's a chance to reach out to him while he's helping you. Could be a win win situation.

Exciting times in the Creed & friends thread, I can't wait to see how this deck shakes out. Me, it's just that my stuff is banished to the garage. My contributions are required inside. I'm not complaining I'm blessed beyond measure. But it's funny how life changes. When I bought this house with no kids I had a gun specific work bench inside and two safes. Now, my 1 safe doubles as my night stand and the garage is piled up with walkers, bouncers, strollers, diapers, swaddlers, doddlers, poddlers etc...Ive been up with baby since 2 trying to let momma get some shut eye we haven't had much lately o_O

I had a 1973 Fiat 124 Spider. I quickly realized that while I didn't mind wrenching on it, I'm too cheap to put enough money into old cars to make it worthwhile so it got sold. To a guy that had four 124 Spiders.
