That payload you listed is a max payload number, I would like to see a Tacoma with a sticker that has 1709 on the payload. Same applied to Ford, but we have already seen many stickers on Rangers with payload over 1500. I'm not sure if I have seen a Tacoma payload sticker over 1300 lbs yet.

The 1,709 is for the TH. Maybe higher because it has OME suspension and is designed for overlanding? Guessing all Hybrids will get beefier springs to go with beefier axle and have higher payload but not as much as TH. What is the payload on your '16 OR? Around 1,100?

MSRP starts around $58,000 but that doesn't include any dealer addendum. Some dealers are selling at MSRP, I forget who here has one at MSRP if he wants it... paging unknown user here I can't remember who has the first chance at Eruption Green.

We shall see what the sticker actually is on the Trail Hunter, but yes my 2020's payload is actually 990. Which is one of the reasons that I think Ford actually did a good job with the Ranger providing and respectable towing and payload number, along with integrating some common sense features that truck users appreciate.

It's the same with the Tundra, I don't think anyone has seen a max payload on a truck yet either, those seem to be floating around 14-1600 lbs or so.

At the end of the day everyone that likes Tacoma's and uses them camping/working/ etc knows that you are going to more than likely overload it at some point and if you are doing enough of it, you are gonna have to rethink the suspension.

Perhaps that is the feeling anytime I see that color on the Bronco, was really close to buying a used 2 door Badlands 7 speed with the lux package but it had hail damage repaired on it and didn't really feel like shelling out $45k bones for it.
Speaking of green, it's my new found favorite color.

Leaf Springs are better for towing and heavy payload. Most people don't tow or max out the payload in their trucks. It's a trade off. Do you want max tow/payload for the few times you drive in that configuration (if ever) or a better ride 98-100% of the time? I wouldn't say the Ranger/Colorado are better designed because they tow more. 1. a leaf spring set up is less expensive, 2. some buyers will believe the higher tow/payload #s means better and it will influence their purchase - even if they never/rarely tow. Then they will complain about the rough ride.

At the price point of truck I am currently looking at, Hybrid is an immediate nogo. I can find GM and Ford trucks all day at the payload and towing I am looking. I have no desire and need to tow 7.5k with a midsize currently, but with a Taco it's not even an option unfortunately. Towing at the limit for anything isn't a good time. The higher payload is more critical to me than the tow rating though.

At the 4th gen Taco levels, the Pro 4x is right there as well.

The 4th gen has my 3rd gen matched or covered when it comes to capabilities, but the competition for the most part has the 4th gen beat and is more economical typically to boot.

I guess I am looking for less of a lifestyle truck and more of a truck truck. I'm just waiting for Toyota to fully flesh out their Taco lineup before I get real serious on my search at this point.

The Ram 2500 and 1500's would probably make a strong argument for the leaf spring/coils towing and payload point.

The higher payload and towing means what it does, more payload and towing, for a lot of truck buyers that is an important combination of figures for their planned uses for the vehicle. My current Tacoma does ok for my towing needs at the moment, and payload is meh..I just try not to overload it too much and go on about my day when those times come up.

I don't think any of the leaf sprung trucks ride rough, do the coil spring trucks ride better, that is subjective. Get into a Ram 2500 empty and you will think your leaf sprung mini truck rides plush. Is rough ride something that is complained about with the Tacoma?...If so I missed that entirely.

When you...for whatever your reason...are spending full size truck money on a little truck, it is nice if you can get as much full size truck capability as possible out of the package. While I don't think Toyota did a bad job with this one, and they did add some improvements that made sense, like the integrated trailer brakes etc. I think Ford did a good job as well and may give them a run for their money.

Not Toyota’s fault, but interest rates dictate that your purchasing power is lower than a year ago. In 2023 $47k got you all the toppings, but a year later that 47k requires a choice between jettisoning some expected features and still paying more monthly, or paying a whole lot more.

Gen4 sure is a tempting improvement, but I can’t yet find the math that benefits a current owner to trade a truck he already likes and financed at a much lower rate, w/o incentives.

Is that MSRP on the truck or marked up? Your truck has under 15k miles non prem. pkg?

That is MSRP, its got every possible port add on you can think of. No my truck has 27k miles and is a premium package along with Volk racing wheels, PPF, ceramic coating, etc. and lift they factored in supposedly on trade.

Oh gotcha, that is a crazy MSRP for sure. Weren't you getting high $30's when you were looking at 3G Raptors? Albeit that was months ago IIRC. I am getting Carvana offers of $34,600 on my similar but still stock 20k mile truck. no lift, PPF, ceramic.

Yep, I got a $42k final offer on an $81k 3G raptor 37 package w/13k miles back in Jan, tell my wife constantly I should have took that deal. Since then havent gotten anywhere above $38k with $36k the number usually landed on.

Do you get tax savings on trade there I assume? Here we don't so I prefer to sell myself. Figure anything in the upper $30's is fair with the color, options, and transmission.

Insanity. $56k is a price I'd expect on a TRD Pro.
