Working on wrapping these guys up. 3rd gen options weld on and bolt on will be available soon. 1/8 and 3/16 construction for 1.75” tube. More than willing to tack a set together at a super legit price for a “you can finish it yourself” deal. 2nd gen is in progress.

Perfect base for a DIY tube bumper! Weld on versions were designed for guys that are going to remove the factory cross bar at the front, and are fish plated on top of the frame if you have an engine cage and no core support mounts. However they can be easily modified to fit your needs. Or just go bolt on.

    It's funny you posted that...

I was looking to change my front bumper setup, and was trying to find a new bumper earlier today . I'll be interested in the bolt on version. All the new stuff you're making looks rad

We were talking about brakes a bit ago. Just installed a set of PowerBrake X-Line on a customer truck and had the opportunity to shoot a video about it if you're interested to see the difference.

Good video. With those same oe calipers in my prerunner regular cab, the lightest configuration Tacoma using those, and on my 3rd Gen 4runner which is a hair over 4k lbs, they still feel inadequate and Toyota’s sh!tty ABS makes them practically ineffective at times. I could not imagine a double cab long bed all loaded up with gear relying on that.

The only extra thing I would have liked to see was bypassing the ABS if possible in an additional before and after.

Really though the most important take away is probably to practice panic stops seeing how you could save 15 ft with either setup by avoiding the ABS.

For guys wanting to go even bigger with a custom fabbed spindle, there’s some good info in this video for how to source cheap oe 6 pistons. It’s near the end of the video if you don’t like the cheesy intro / unrelated info.

As far as dissipating heat on a big decline, sounds like an auto trans issue :p

Do y'all bother doing anything in the rear or leave the stock drums?

No reason to upgrade the rear before the front and the rear is a bit more involved. Not as much performance gain and it’s $$$$ vs. performance. By the time you get a conversion kit you’re probably spending 15-25% of a semi-float 9” and that would become another thing to be thinking about.

Thanks. Pretty much what I thought. I'm going to do the front and was deciding whether to do the back at the same time or leave it stock and maybe one day float it.

My ABS is gone entirely with the power brake setup. It shits on my fiancés basically stock 2nd gen with EBC stage 9’s. Mine is heavy and rolling 37’s.

Gonna watch the video soon. As for the rear, being a manual the drums are my parking brake and I really dont want to loose that aspect. Putting it in gear only does so much, need that extra holding power. From what I've seen unless I can adapt a ebrake to close the caliper the small drums the disc conversions have isnt much

The SOS kit uses 4th-5th Gen 4runner calipers / d-rotor e brake - should be as strong as a 4runner if done right, but there are some things I didn’t like a lot about the kit - particularly the amount of threads the kit is held onto the flange of the axle with. For moderate off roading I don’t think it would be an issue, but for beating the truck up I would think something could be done that was a little more sturdy.

Thanks! shot the whole video in a day as it was a customers truck (I had permission to shoot with it) but couldn't go super duper in depth. There's definitely other things I would have liked to test if it was my truck. Like brake until the brakes were so hot they were faded, then try to do that with the big brakes, but no way I'm gunna cook a customer's brand new brakes haha. I did a ton of heavy stops during bedding, and then the testing on the customer brakes, and only heated up the first coolest paint mark on the rotor which I thought was quite impressive. And the calipers never seem to get cooking hot, the aluminum just dumps the heat so fast. wish i had a temp laser gun thing

You do know you’re not supposed to do any heavy braking at all for 500 miles right?

The break in procedure was super annoying, but according to Delon, the pads and rotors will be compromised if it isn’t followed.

that seems to be the exact opposite of every set of pads and rotors i have ever installed. typically they want you to perform a half dozen rapid consecutive decelerations from around 40-50 mph to bake a layer of pad material onto the rotor

Powerbrake is entirely different. He has an entire page outlining how to bed them in. And hard stops are not part of that. My brakes got substantially better over the 500 mile procedure. Literally states not following can cause failure.

I talked about this in the video, but I called Delon and he gave me an accelerated break in procedure that he said would be fine

Was this testing done with stock brake lines (flexible line)? If so now test an aftermarket steel braided line.
