It was more the rotors that were worrying me. Had a floor masher stop in Chicago that definitely did something. For the price I said what the heck I'll swap everything.

Tell you what, I'll cut you a killer deal on some used pads.......

    Twark 2024: Last day...

Yet another wonderful night under the Arkansas stars. Good food, friends and sleep. Camp was packed up pretty quickly-we are getting good at it by now, a quick look around and off we went.

    Departure.jpg

Originally I had planned for us to go see if we could cross at Woolum Ford-another crossing on the Buffalo River which would have made a nice symmetric closing to the trip. I tried to get there last time I was here but couldn't get across Richardson creek... Unfortunately, Mondays rains made it a no go. No one crosses there unless the nearby river gage is at or close to 4 feet. Last time we checked it was running at 11 feet... so off we went for a fun drive in the woods. We did get a fun crossing of Richardson creek:

    Rich Cr.jpg

From here we just wandered out to the highway and started heading north...
Somehow I forgot to include the only recovery from the trip! I think it happened on day six but might have been on the way out. We were on trail and headed into an area I had not been to before. We made a medium size ford and then paralleled the creek for a ways on a muddy road under some power lines. After crossing over a stone wall-really!, and a bit of a dip there was an obstacle on the right that demanded an immediate left. Unfortunately, with the nose pointing skyward this need was hard to see. I made it through but when I looked back, Dean had been swallowed whole! Bad news was the road also abruptly ended at a cliff into the creek with no obvious bypass. That blue long boi tried to get out but in the end we gave him a tug...

    Opps.jpg

    Opps 2.jpg

No damage done (except some pride maybe...) From here we back tracked and found a way around. Sometimes there is a road and sometimes there just isn't!
Thanks for humoring me with this story. Thanks again to Dean Dave and Jonathon for a memorable and amazing trip through the Ozarks!

@pearing If you ever get the Madeline Island bug, I'm interested.
A coworker has some land in the U.P. and tells me Madeline is nothing BUT trails.
Not sure about Madeline Island but I know on several others where the ferry runs, if the weather shifts gears, they won't come back to get you until weather is good. Could potentially be stuck on the island for a period.

I think we talked about this at another recent event. This sounds interesting to me also.

Pat, thank you for these great posts detailing our adventures! Really glad that you took the time to document each day. We had some family over on Sunday for an Easter brunch and it was fun to bring out the laptop and go through the whole story with your posts.

Not to sound corny, but I needed this getaway adventure. Back at work now I feel refreshed and the annoying stuff seems to be so much less important. It was quite the epic trip with some great people. Pat was an amazing guide. I'd follow him (almost) anywhere!

No worries. It's the internet and y'all have a lot to talk about :D

If you're getting 35s, better do the Tundra brake upgrade while you're at it :boink: :spending:

2 years on less than 2mm? Negative. (Unless you're joking) :anonymous:

    Do you have Dates?

Id be OK with changing up some of the usual trips, or doing alternative destinations in order to make it easier to plan stuff. As of now, a lot of the out of state adventures seem to fall during times when I'm already busy.

I'm guessing you'll plan around Spring break again?

I'm mildly interested, especially since Kentucky is a short ride.

As much as I like taking my Florida trip later in the winter, it makes it hard to plan things in spring. I might have to start going earlier if it means I can join on one of your trips.

I'd also consider pushing Wyalusing back a week or two to give people a weekend to relax and fix their vehicles after whatever you end up putting them through.

Kidding aside - kudos for setting up such an amazing trip for those who attended! I'm always impressed with such great planning, especially because my trips always feel like I'm just winging it. I'm lucky everyone is so easy going around here that they put up with me.
