    Its a good unit. One of the better ones on the market. Better lock up over the OEM Toyota LS diff. Really, the only down side is the "friction surface" is the case itself. If it wears out, you have to replace the unit, as opposed to replacing clutch packs. However, as cheap as they are, I dont know of anyone who replaces clutch packs now days. They always replace the whole unit.

    how would you know the friction surface when bad. does it not lock up anymore basically turns to a one wheel wonder?

    Yeah, but I know a guy who beats his like it owes him money, and he has 50k+ miles on it, and it still locks up fine.
