Hey Connecticut, our backs hurt

Wise to get the Toyota stuff. I went aftermarket on my first change at 70K. Didn't quite get that far with them..so I ponied up this time. Pads still had good meat but the cheapo rotors were warped and shaking.

 

Really great weather there for the last few days, then less so today I guess. Felt like it was really getting warm over the weekend.

A high school friend randomly just moved to Danbury for his job. I've shown him around New Haven a little (pizza, waterfront food trucks, East Rock Brewing), but am wondering where to take him in/around Danbury. My experience in Danbury is limited to Cap City on Federal Road and the Whole Foods south of there. Any good bars, breweries, hikes etc. in/around Danbury that I should take him to? Planning to drive him up to Tree House in MA and Alchemist in VT at some point but am curious about what there is to do/see in the western part of CT (other than the Metro-North corridor, which I'm too familiar with).

 

I'm Brookfield, so I know a little bit about Danbury... Sort of.

Breweries there's only one in town: Charter Oak. I've had their stuff. It's not bad... It's no Tree House though. There's another brewery in Ridgefield that's also not bad, right on Route 7: Nod Hill. I've also had their stuff and it's also not bad. Again, it's no Tree House though. There's a brewery in Newtown which is not very far from Danbury called NewSylum Brewing. Never had their stuff though. And there's another one in Bethel, which is right next to Danbury, called Broken Symmetry. I've had their stuff and it's good. Or if you want to venture further north of Danbury you have Kent Brewery up in Kent CT.

For bars in Danbury, you have TKs and Pippas. Both are popular spots, and have great wings. Small places. But if you're looking for something bigger, with more choices, then you have Buffalo Wild Wings right over by the Danbury mall.

Hiking... Not really into that so don't really know any spots. There's Terrywhile Park in Danbury. Not sure if they have a trail or anything like that though. There's one that I heard of from someone on my kiddo's soccer team, right on or close to Route 7 past the Danbury airport going towards Ridgefield, called The Ives Trail and Greenway. The guy that did it said it was OK.

Will definitely take a look at these helpful recommendations (including New England Brewing soon hopefully, I keep walking up West Rock too late in the day to make it to last call there afterwards, but will cross it off this week if/when the weather improves).

Your car is garaged so I don't think the pins would get seized. I was replacing the rotors also so the caliper had to be removed anyway. It was just a pain to try and hold the caliper and pads when installing the caliper. I only have two hands.
Those Brembo pads are $500.

 

That's crazy. I can get a full kit with OEM manufacturer (Porsche supplier, just not in a box that says Porsche) pads, rotors, calipers bolts and all the clips and hardware including sensors from Pelican Parts for $700

I will second, third, and 4th TKs for wings. Usually have at least 2 good German beers on tap. Charter Oak is cool - more when its nice out. The food truck "el puesito" they have at times is incredible. you can also find him near the home depot. Broken Symentry is also good.

Newsylum in Newtown will take the win. Its the biggest, most impressive, and also has very good beer. They also have a pizza oven imported from Italy there. The story behind it is also cool as that is the old Farifield Hills mental hospital campus that the town bought from the state and made it the town hall/police/library/etc.

 

Yeah... that Fairfield Hills place is "scary" looking at night since there are still some old buildings left. But the ones that they fixed up already look real nice.

Gonna have to go and try NewSylum now since you said it's good.

 

Its worth it. If not for a bit of fun especially when it gets nice out. They usually have live music, games outside, theres also a beer tent out there too.

 

I'm sold then. LOL

Definitely gonna go check it out.
