Colorado Beer

Sorry if there is a thread on this already. I used the search function and did not see one, though admittedly I do not know if I or the search function sucks.

Anyhoo, CO beers I frequently drink:

Coors Banquet & Coors Light. Yeah don't judge. I'm a native and my family goes back generations. I grew up drinking this, and so did my daddy and his daddy before him. Its a great camping beer on the lake. Its our old west beer.


Prost: ALL OF IT. I love this brewery so much, so smooth and the food (while expensive) at their biergartens is amazeballs.

New belgium: I miss the old fat tire but the new one is fine. I usually get the hoppy box. I accidentally got really jacked on the Juice force. I didn't know it was 9%.

Ska brewery: The modus hopperandi and tropical hazy are excellent. The Euphoria IPA puts me in state of...well Euphoria

Colorado Kolche. Tasty

4 noses....all excellent

Breckenridge: the only one I like is their vanilla porter.

Its been many years since I've been to smaller breweries that do not distribute. A lot of them have closed in the last 10 years.

 

After moving here from the southeast one thing I love is the availability of so many German style beers from CO breweries. Prost is great for the atmosphere and one of the only places around where I’ve found Currywurst.

Telluride has a good Kolsch as well.

In the springs Red Leg is great. Good Hefeweizen and Kolsch (though I don’t think they can or distribute it)

 

PBR is pretty popular, it's served in every bar.

 

Fat Tire is too malty for me anymore. I prefer Odell 90 Schilling if an amber ale sounds good.

Coors Banquet and Light are fine just fine, no judgement at all. I keep that or Old Style (WI and IL family roots) in the fridge most of the time.

Odell IPA is the only IPA you need, it’s simply the best.

Oskar Blues’ Dale’s Pale Ale is an old favorite, but for a while nearly every can foamed up upon opening so I stopped buying it. Honorable mentions also to Great Divide and Prost.

TLDR: Odell is best, NBB is great, Coors is a staple of the community.

I can’t stand Fat Tire anymore, especially in cans

When you buy Kona Brewing Co beer in bottles, it is brewed by Redhook in Seattle or Portsmouth and other mainland breweries. When you are on the Hawaii Islands and you get KBC beer from a tap, it is brewed on Kona. They only brew kegs on Kona for the islands.

Always a fan of Avery, especially their dark and heavy stuff (definitely sipping beers) through the winter months. Ska Mexican Logger is my go-to summer beer. Haven’t had a bad beer from Prost for sure.

 

How many beers have you tried just because of the label?
I would have a hard time not being thirsty around all that.

Reds are my favorite.
I had a Sam Addams one, but can never find it, Sooooo good.

 

There's a micro brewery in Salida called "Amica's" (it's also a pizza place). I used to go to Salida in September for the tout fishing and ate there frequently. I think it's seasonal but they made a Hatch green chili beer that was a really good drink to good with the pizza.
