Is it not worth removing the windows and other materials before demolition?

Latest saga of the Pure sign. I sent an email as instructed by the antque store.

Good afternoon I stopped by the store on Swannanoa River Rd. And asked if you might be interested in a 6' Pure sign that I had found buried on my property. Here are some pictures. Along with an old military jeep grill that was buried with the sign.
If you are interested please let me know.
    Thank you for your time
    Theri reply:
    Hey there!
About how much are you looking to sell these for?
    My reply awaiting reply:
Thanks for getting back to me Brit, make me an offer as a starting point. Not sure what to expect.
    Thanks
Might take them a few days to respond, but i really don't know their worth. But after watching American Pickers ( told wife it was about nose picking). I figured I'd let them make me an offer.

Our guys went through and took out anything that they wanted salvaged. Looking at the plans, these windows are 18 years old, replaced in 2006. The original windows from this end of the building were from 1961.

Too much liability to let "some guy" in to remove them.
If the company handled it any value would be eclipsed by the labor cost - and then storage - and finally the time wasted trying to sell them.
Might mess up the tax accounting too.

I was thinking more on the lines of sorting and recycling the materials, than actual reuse.

I was having a talk with the wifey earlier about how I deal with problems vs how my dad does it. He’s more of a (he says he is anyways) “IM GONNA TELL YOU WHAT, YOURE GONNA FIX THIS(blah blah blah with swears and such), while I tend to try to make the people I’m dealing with laugh, while explaining the situation I’m in, and so forth. Long story short, I think my method is working ok, cause I got a call today saying they were pulling my truck in the garage to start working on it. The service advisor asked if I wanted my old parts and I said it would be nice to have that old steering rack to smash the hell out of an uninsured motorcycle, or to put above the mantle as a monument to uninsured motorists everywhere. He said he’d throw it in the back of the truck and whatever happens happens !

Everything we don't want on campus anymore goes to the monthly auction. Usually, it's a bunch of crap that sits there forever then gets scrapped. Like bikes that have sat outside for so long that they're not rideable because they're so rusted.

Needless to say, no one wanted much of anything from this building besides signage, decent furniture and door lock cores that can be reused. I think some lights might have been removed.

If they do this like they did the last building that was demolished, they were breaking the concrete up to separate the rebar from the concrete. Same with the steel studs separated from drywall.

I really miss that about working on campus. My machine shop came from there.

    Was it just leaking?
I’ve been thinking of getting a junk one to send out for a rebuild. My ‘15 has about 150,000 miles and will need one eventually.
What would you want for it? Seriously…

No it was because I was crashed into by an uninsured motorcyclist, It’s no good. A brand new one was only $650 from Olathe Toyota, can’t be much cheaper to rebuild an old one I wouldn’t think

I'll throw this out under "it works for me".

When I get a (yet another  ) high mileage vehicle I use a suction gun to empty the power steering reservoir and refill with fresh, especially if the fluid is dark.
I will continue doing this every oil change until the fluid stays clear.

For ongoing maintenance I will hit it once or twice a year.

I don't worry about getting all the fluid out, just get some fresh in there every time.
It takes almost zero effort  and very little cost :thumbsup:.
