Bought the oem intermittent wiper and cruise control parts and installed them today. Very easy to do, took about 20 minutes. The hardest part for me was the trim to access the wiper switch, didnt want to seperate.

So I got into the cruise, old wiring and switch out. Looked into the clock spring and there are 3 terminals in there, awesome I thought. Not. Got it back together, key on, push the on/off button, no light, dang. Took it out and test drove it, wont set either. Searched for info on possible fuse not installed, appears thats not the case. Wiring to clockspring? Dont know, need to find wiring diagram.

When ignition key is turned on you get the various dash lights that come on. If the cruise light is operational would it come on to during initial key on? I havnt seen many posts on the 2011 reg cab people doing the cruise install so dont know if there is something I missed or dont know about.

Sorry to bring on another cruise question as it has been asked to death. As I said I have searched and searched the many forums and havnt had a lot of success. My cousins husband works at the local Toyota dealership where I bought this truck. Talked to him about installing all of this but figured if I looked and the 3 terminals were there at the connector I would be golden, no luck. So all installed but non functioning. Any ideas?
If and when I take it to him to check out I will post back on what we did to fix it.

    Thanks

    I’m in the same boat as you (2011 reg cab 4WD), but I found this;

Check out http://www.thecruisecontrolstore.com/ez-catalog/X380183/0003/250-1836 , their instructions show the procedure for installing the "CRUISE ECM HARNESSES FOR NON-PREWIRED".

You may be able to order the harness you need and make things work.

DISCLAIMER! I have not used The Cruise Control Store nor do I know of anyone that has dealt with the business.

If the you order this and it works, please post you results.

    Regards, Rick.

That link quoted above is for the complete Rostra cruise control kit with the steering wheel switch for 2009+ Tacos.

A poster on TN says that the Rostra part number for the harness kit only is 250-2735. He said that he bought that harness kit for $10.26 plus shipping from Brandon Distributing, phone 763-241-4172. It's post #297 in this thread: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171992&page=20

Another poster on TN said that the harness kit is discontinued.

That harness appears to still be available.

It is the clutch and ground wires. I have an auto so wont help me much. Thanks for the replies .
Wish I knew a lot more about these. Would try to make something that could be available for people to get the cruise working.

rjlem: that diagrom looks like it could be a very good possiblity. If I try to wire it up may be later on when weather is nicer outside, if I have my cousins husband help me may try in the next couple weeks, either way will post up results, hopefully success.

It looks like my automatic 4 cylinder base 2010 Access Cab (made in California) has the cruise control wiring.

The spiral cable (clock spring) has the pins, S8 (spiral cable plug) has the ECU and ground wires, and E7 (ECU plug) has the clock spring and Cruise LED wires.

I didn't check C9-24 (combination gauge plug, Cruise LED wire) yet. There is a wire-to-wire connector pair (II1) between the ECU and the combination gauge, so it's possible that the wire from the connector pair to C9-24 is missing.

I don't know yet if my combination gauge has the Cruise LED installed.

The S8 plug in my truck is made by Tyco (Amp). It's probably one of their Multilock series, maybe Multilock 025, but I don't guarantee that. I don't know right now who made the other plugs involved with the cruise control.

Do you have an update on this?? My 2011 Reg Cab has the same problem as you. I installed the switch and wire and it didn't work. :(

OP , you asked if CC comes on after you turn the key, it doesnt. You have to turn it on at the stalk. Not sure if that helps or not.

No update yet. My cousins husband hasnt checked on the oem wiring to see if it is the same as the Rostra wiring diagram and I still havnt taken the time yet to remove the related panels to check the wiring.

Yeah Tacoyota, I had tried that and seen somewhere someone said their light didnt come on but the cruise worked, so I took mine out and drove it too and still didnt work.

    Good luck Jerry

    thanks, me too.....eventually :)
