Any PC Builders Out There?

Lucked out because apparently they will no longer offer the 4k monitor with them. Don’t know if it’s due to not being available anymore or prices for them went up above their price point.

I've got an extra CPU and GPU I have to put somewhere and I'm planning to do a multi-PC desk later on

 

Almost bought a North for my recent build but decided to keep using my old C70. Such a nice looking case!

 

I know it’s probably not the ideal thread to ask in but is there any current wifi technology that would allow me to wirelessly connect 2 access points over an approximate 20 mile distance?

And if so what type of bandwidth are we looking at for that distance?

Does the FCC have specific regs against that type of distance? I’ve only dealt with them for HAM/GMRS and some stuff in the ISM band.

I’ve seen some P2P stuff that advertise 25+ KM, but it may not be enough.

 

You might find answers here, but 20 miles? Doubtful you could do it with stuff you can get at Best Buy.

I don't think it's the distance, but the TX (transmit) power to achieve the distance. I think the 2.4GHz band is limited to 1 Watt for TX power. You can DIY your own antenna. It's cheap, but I don't think I've seen anyone build one good for over a few miles. I don't think the FCC will notice unless you're pissing off your neighbors with interference.

You can buy antennas for better distance, but I think they can get expensive fast. Not sure if any will cover a 20 mile distance with usable bandwidth.

But....lots of factors would also need to be considered....like height you could place the units.


I know there is a LTT video of them doing longer distance setup from...somewhere to his parents cabin or something. Would be worth a watch for least an idea

 

I appreciate the info gents, it seems the LTU extreme range 5ghz radio my just do what we need, if necessary I think I can source an ISP connection a few miles closer but we shall see.
We could just get starlink but what’s the fun in that.

We are also working on setting up a LoRa Mesh between where I am and where we are trying to put internet so if the 915mhz with a few milliwatts of power can make it with a single hop hopefully the stream wifi can also.

Time to research what parts are required and if a VLAN is what we need to setup for this use.

 

Its conversations like these that remind me I know nothing about computer systems and just watched alot of YouTube videos to build my PC.

LOL, trying to figure out all your IRQ jumpers, and the proprietary CD-ROM interfaces before they standardized.

 

I’m interested in tech, but I know very little about it, I have started to play with python programming and can probably assembly a PC without watching YouTube, but there are a bunch of guys on here that have technical knowledge I’m absolutely in awe of, the guys in the IT thread (some of them hang out here too) have some crazy knowledge.
I do enjoy learning more and trying to apply what I learn though.

 

Sold a bike, bought a Fractal North case, moved my build over a few days ago, and my damn AIO decided to shit the bed. I'm getting an rpm reading off the pump but for the life of me I can't get it to cool or circulate. No pinched hoses, I've shifted the rad and iron every which direction to try and free up any air bubbles. I'm giving up on it and going back to a tower cooler.

With that in mind, what are you favorite tower coolers? And don't say noctua, we all know those are great already haha

I have an AK620 in my shopping list ready for check out in the event that my AIO ever shits the bed.



Then again I've had an AIO as long as 7 years and it still ran perfectly fine

Nothing wrong, they're just expensive haha and I only have a 5600x, which let's be honest the stock wraith cooler cools just fine, so hard to justify noctua prices aside from shits and giggles. I was looking at the AK400 though, I like the vibe of it.

I was hoping someone would mention that, I have a hard time trusting online reviews. Price is definitely right.
