I think the client has it right. You've already put a butterfly in it, and the center is kinda bland anyway. I'd cut the center out and just inset it into the table so that it catches on the rim, it would be low profile that way. You could always make a lazy suzan to cover the hole if he removes the spitoon. Or just make a raised insert of some interesting wood.

Nah this round is about 2.5” thick and 28” wide so it weighs a ton. The spittoon weighs maybe 1lb

Nice work! You really made that into a great looking functional router cabinet. Appreciate your time to post- thanks!

Glad I got my saw when I did before the ridiculous price increases that are going to happen.
I really don't need the government involved in my woodworking or anything for that matter.
I use sharp pointy things, ride motorcycles and ebikes, and enjoy the shooting sport. I don't need the government involved in my safety.

I have my dads old workhorse Craftsman 10". It has the metal guards and all the basic stuff. Dust collection system is a pile on the floor, so I'll work on that an the new place. I'll use it till I can't anymore.

Man I've been so busy lately just can't find time to get in the shop. Gotta take the overtime at work when it's there. Going tonight to pick up a used truck. Sunday going to Canada for the day to visit my Betty's family. Gotta wkrk saturday and do domestic chores. Always something.

I had a craftsman for 40 years, I enclosed the bottom so I could hook up the dust collector. Worked better than no dust collector.

That's my plan. Use a thin plywood on three sides and a heavy vinyl or something around the belts. I have a large scoop I have on the work bench with job site that I'll use on the bigger saw. Not having 220 in the garage, I'm kind of stuck with the smaller one for now.

Nothing wrong with that saw. I upgraded the fence and built a lot of stuff with my old craftsman.

Being paranoids, maybe, but ... if an undermount tray like shown, a think metal plate on the bottom of the table to protect the table from conders. I am sure a thin (1/16, 1/8 max) would do it and be invisible.

Started making a case, several steps left. I will post more pics as I get more done but. This is why I like watco rubbing oil the short pic has a slight planer chatter that sanded out somewhat. Almost not visible unless you know it is there.
