He mimeographed the pattern, used a daisy wheel to punch holes in the paper, used chalk line chalk to dust and then traced the dots together.
    How's that for being old.
Ya know, if the internet disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn't even think twice. I know the old ways.

So, with a sad heart, my woodworking buddy in WV has passed. He had two kids and a bunch of money and lived to 89, smoking and drinking to his final day, so don't be sad. He lived an epic life.
However, a question to you shop guys...
His daughter called me today and, in the will, he specifically mentioned me and his tools...I can have them all or whatever I want but I am first in the shop.
Quandary... I have most of the tools he has. Some better, some not as good. I truly would only want a few clamps and a special rosewood square I loved. Probably around $100 worth of tools. He has $$$$$$ worth of tools, but so do I. Should I go up and get just a few things or should I elegantly decline citing his memory is good enough for me?
What will happen is his kids (my age) will auction off all his tools, sell the house and shop and move on. I wish I needed the tools but, at 61 years old, I have all the tools I need. What would you do?

Take the clamps and use them, take the square and cherish it.

There's a reason he gave you first crack at it.

Agree. I could still have easily done my job with no internet - but slower. :turtleride:

The modern generation would be :bananadead: without it though.

With me, you pretty much never need to ask. It's a safe bet.

Sorry about the loss of your friend.

Just like Drew said, there is a reason he wanted you to have first crack.
Take what you want, need or will just enjoy having.

Yeah, thinking the same thing. Probably less than $100 out of $20K+ they will get at auction.
I wished I needed it but he also had a fully automated re-loader setup in his shop. Dump brass in one end, ready to shoot bullets came out the other end. Could dial up many calibers too. My neighbor has the same so I don't need it. This dude shot hundreds of rounds every week. He kicked my butt at the range in his back yard.

    Sorry about your buddy.

Take whatever you want and don't feel at all guilty about it. He left you the option because thats what he wanted, do as he wishes.

    Side note:
Last week my dad's best buddy's daughter (did you get all of that?)....anyhow, she told me that her dad wants me to have his 2021 4runner when he passes. I dont argue with anyone's dying wishes. If he wants to leave his stuff to a camel, the camel should get his stuff.

    Side note; paragraph C.....
When I got my first Toyota (1986ish) this guy told me that if I still liked my Toyota after a year of buying it that he was going to get one too. He bought a new 4runner the following year and has driven nothing but 4runners since.
If have things that friends would appreciate more than any family members might, if they outlive me they will be getting those things.

Sounds like you had a good friend full of piss and vinegar who respected you ‘cause you have some piss a vinagar too and he wanted you to be first in his shop. You are lucky to have had such a friend (I suspect you know this)- take those clamps and the rosewood square ‘cause their value isn’t in dollars but in memory of your friend and therefore priceless.

So far it’s a 100% to accept the tools. Also, if I may add, maybe the last time you see his shop, kids, you didn’t mention his wife but her too if she’s still kicking. It’ll be a nice way to honor and to celebrate his life.

Unrelated, major snow ops this afternoon. Only got about 9” but it’s a wet heavy snow. Firing up the blower for sure.

    Unrelated, good morning everyone :hattip:
I hope you’re not shoveling where you are :annoyed:

Unrelated, Happy Birthday @Fargo Taco :hbd::goingcrazy::yes::woot::ohsnap:

I hope they tear down another building to celebrate!

Damn! Those got some mass to them!!!
Huge heat sinks to keep the pads & rotors cooler. I’m sure the original application had passive ducts too.

That VW got be one interesting build :burnrubber:
