    I know a lot of guys run stoptech, but when I talked to the shop they gave me reasons I don't remember why they recommended wilwood.

    Stoptech was the first front big brake & rear disc conversion available years ago, since then a lot of other brands have come into the picture

    Yeah master cylinder size also plays a roll, but honestly from what my experience has shown with my wilwood manual brake setup is you will never be able to get a long enough pedal in these trucks to ever get the same feel as a tundra master/dual diaphragm booster. Now stopping power is still fairly similar between when I had a booster vs now with manual but it requires a lot of force and I mean a lot. Originally I thought my master cylinder sizing was wrong but after multiple conversations with wilwood about it it just seems it’s a very hefty amount of pressure required to stop heavy 35” tires. Now granted I’m still on 4Runner calipers so the new wilwood 6 piston kit will add a lot of friction and drastically improve feel and stopping distance and I’m waiting to order that this summer since they finally came out with the new direct mount 12mm mounting kit.

    Have you put a pressure gauge on the caliper to see what kind of pressure it’s making? Shouldn’t need to stand on it that hard to make it stop. Pressure gauge will tell the tale.

    I’m actually gonna do that this summer, got two extra spots in my haltech cluster so im gonna add two sensors at the masters, talked it over with wilwood and they thought it was a great idea. Having more info is never a bad thing.

    Definitely measure at the caliper too. I want to say our car with Wilwood manuals puts out about 1600psi at the caliper with probably about 100lbs of pressure

    Also, look at building your own pedal. There are ways to multiply force without adding length.

    Good question.
    Yeah I do, but it’s not a crazy cam. Actually pretty mild.

    I’ve got a sequoia master cylinder, but OEM booster. Is the tundra booster and MC all bolt on plug n play?

    All 1st Gens that do a rear disk setup (and even those that just ditch the load sensing proportioning valve) add a proportioning valve - usually a wilwood knob style. I’ve got one I’ll be installing when I get to brakes.

    Are we talking 1st or 2nd Gen Tundra / Sequoia MC / boosters?

    I’m not sure on what the sequoia is for porting, but the tundra requires adapter lines, the ports are on the opposite side and are 12mm instead of 10mm.

    The sequoia ports are on the wrong side so they come with short lines to bend it down. I looked at them and they were wet so I tightened them up and rebled but the brakes don’t feel much better.

    Ok so that’s a 1st Gen Sequoia MC. Tundra booster is a single diaphragm booster in that case too, just like the 01-04 Tacomas which the SOS kit works for too. This truck had it and he said it worked awesome with 37’s. He had 4th Gen 4runner rear disks and a wilwood proportioning valve too.

    Definitely put a proportioning valve in line with the rear brakes and get rid of the ABS if you haven’t already!

    Yeah the dual diaphragm tundra master works really well. When I went to 35’s my braking was shit till I did the tundra master and booster. But as far as wether you need the tundra over the sequoia you just gotta figure out the size of the master and determine if it’s enough for the brakes.

    Interesting cause the guys from wilwood said I really shouldn’t see more than 1200-1300 psi…

    I believe the sequoia and tundra mc’s are the same so all you have to do is mount the tundra dual diaphragm booster and remove the adapter that you have now on the sequoia mc

    @Pittsy looks like it’s all 2nd Gen Tundra and Sequoia parts then. SOS sells kits for 1st Gen Tundras with a 1st Gen Sequoia MC but it looks like this is different. A dual diaphragm booster may be a good pairing with the MC then. Still recommend the proportioning valve if all the stuff in the above thread isn’t working.
