Show your 285/75/16 and 285/70/17

I've read through some of your build thread and have seen your comments on other tire threads, saw that you took the 285's off after a week. The 285's look fantastic on 3rd gens but due to the highway driving I do it might not be worth the gas mileage impact for me either. Decisions decisions! If only I could have 4 sets of wheels & tires for every possible driving scenario

Yeah I’ve been considering trying out a 285 all terrain next. I’m sure it wouldn’t be as much of a performance killer as the mud tires.

 

Any tire you're looking at specifically? If I go 285's, I'm down to either destination XT's (52lbs), AT4W's, or waiting till August for the K03's.

 

I might do the Grabbers again, the Cooper XLT is super light and road friendly also. I like the AT4W too, but I think if I go with the Falken I would do 255 because of how heavy they are.

 

The Coopers are very interesting, 54lbs and slightly smaller diameter (32.56") so might be the best of both worlds for fuel economy

 

Yeah exactly, and you would have less rubbing issues. I just worry about the puncture resistance of a 2 ply tire but I read through the whole mega thread and didn’t see anyone who had any issues.

 

These are 265s not 285’s, 1” over stock. Yes E rated, I just did get close to 18 with a 5mph plus gust headwind after a battery disconnect. That was a 37mile commute.

 

The stock mpgs were not as good as most guys are claiming with lift and 33’s. I assume my computer was off , I just did the battery disconnect and got close to 18 running 65 w/ 5 mph headwind.

I get anywhere from 14 to 17 depending on wind mountain passes whose in front of me. lol mine is heavy plus the 185\70\R17 km3's don't help either they are like 68 pounds each

 

Just a tiny bit on certain angles in reverse etc. I still need to get my spc uca's installed and aligned. I've heard that helps with the rubbing. I did do some re shaping of the inner fenders with a heat gun as well. If you are only 1.5" you might have more though. I'm sitting at 2.25"ish

Hey professorX are you rubbing with that size tire? I have the same set of wheels, currently on 265s. Going to need new tires soon so I was hoping on going up a size. I have a 3" lift kit. Ray10s -10 offset and I also have some 1.25" wheel spacers. I really like the stance I have with the spacers so I plan leaving them on. Do you rub how it is or did you need any modification to make them fit?

 

You’ll be really far out with the spacers, be like -41 for offset. You’ll be doing extra cutting with that much offset.

 

Do you know what I'll have to cut by any chance? And would I need a body mount chop?

 

I have BFG's Mud Terrain's 285/70/17's (load range E), thinking about getting the Toyo's Open Country R/T Trail, in the same size in load range C, BFG's are heavy, the toyos are 10lbs lighter and think MPG would improve, anyone thoughts on this???

 

Im in the same boat. Currently running grabber ATX which have been awesome. But they are at the end of their life. Was going to do the Duratrac Rt as they are on sale but they only come in a E right now. Could get the Toyo Open Country in a c load which would shed the weight but not as strong. Do we really need E load over a C load

 

Is anyone running K02 285 70 r 17 with a C load? Would like to know how you like em? showing only 50.3 lbs
