I'd like to convert the foot pedal parking brake on my 05' PreRunner to the pull handle style that is in the manual transmission Tacoma's. I've done a bunch of searching but cannot seem to find anyone who has done this before?

I'm thinking this should be pretty straight forward but wanted to get everyone's thoughts on it. I think all I need are the parts for the handle assembly itself and the short cable to get it back to underneath the gear shift, but I cannot for the life of me find the parts diagram so I can figure out what to order.

I know people generally hate the pull handle parking brake vs. the foot pedal, but I don't really use that pocket for anything and I'm trying to free up space to do custom fiberglass kick panels for my midbass speakers and the foot pedal will be in the way.

    Thanks.

Bottom of the first page of this thread has the diagram of both the hand and foot brake assemblies. It looks like the cable assembly is different on the dash end so that may need replacing as well.

If you were closer I'd offer to swap my hand brake assembly for your foot brake one. I'm fine with keeping my mid bass in the door.

Thanks, that is helpful, just wish it had part numbers...

I'm a bit of an audiophile and want to try running my 8" midbass in IB in the kicks to smooth out my response. Plus my doors have a ton of deadening in them and still get vibrating pretty good during midbass heavy songs which is distracting.

You going to be doing aperiodic membranes behind them or just cutting out the metal for full IB?

Being in a single cab I'm just going to be running an pair of 8" for subs and then a Morel 3-way setup in the doors with a 6 1/2" in the stock door location, 3" dome in the stock tweeter location and 1" tweeters on the mirror covers.

I'm an old school audiophile. Build car and home audio systems for a living for a few decades.

Probably full IB, but haven't fully decided yet.

Single cab makes it tricky for sure. I'm running an active 3-way right now with an Xcelsus XXT30 tweeter and Xcelsus XXM325 mid in 3D printed pods in the dash corners and Stereo Integrity TM8's in the doors. For my sub I'm using a Stereo Integrity BM MKV in a sealed box. DSP in a MiniDSP 8x12DL with an OpenDRC upstream. The 3D pods have been great and allowed me to try a few different tweeter and mid combos before I do fiberglass sail and A-pillars.

You have the shiny newer stuff! I have one of the old Stereo Integrity BM MKIII subs from when they first came out in my other vehicle.

The MKiii was the one with the flat metal cone right? Those look pretty sweet, but I do love the carbon fiber on mine! I'm not as big a fan of the glossy finish on the new BM11, I prefer the matte finish.

Getting a bit off topic so if anyone else reading this has other info on the handbrake I'm all ears! Thanks.

Yeah, sorry about that. Looks like the cable is definitely different between the AT and MT vehicles. Here's the list off of Olathe's parts page. I plugged on for my 2005 2.7 4x2 but I suspect the e-brake parts are the same in the front for all of the variations. There is also a bunch of rear cable differences but it seems to vary on cab and bed length mostly.

No worries, that comment wasn't directed at you so much as myself, lol.

Thanks again for the help and info!
