    Hey all,

Has anyone looked at this head unit from a cyber security perspective? I really want to buy one of these, but questioning if it's safe to connect this to my iPhone and risk inadvertently exposing my information to the world. Apple has a ton of data that shouldn't make its way into the wrong hands. Am I being paranoid?

The only issue I've encountered with this gen 2 unit thus far is no matter what there seems to be a slight bit of either cool or hot (depending on how I had the temp set prior) blowing regardless if I've have the heat/ac turned off. I try to keep the ac and heat turned off the vast majority of the time yet no matter what and there's still always a sight bit of it regardless if I turned it off on the unit

Oh and android auto seems to have issues connecting and playing my samsung music files most of the time. I'm not sure if that's because I'm using samsung music on in s8+
maybe it just doesn't like older phones. idk. Seems music does read from a usb thumbdrive so I might just load up a bunch of music files on a thumbstick and try that instead since music saved on my phone seems unreliable the majority of the time.

Linkswell makes a great one for the 3rd gen...I love mine. It helps immensely mapping for OnX and having the bigger screen is a game changer!

The AuCar headunit paired with my Samsung Flip4 has been solid for me ever since the latest firmware upgrade. I've seen improvements like faster boot up, better Carplay/Android Auto usability (eg. Maps), and I finally got my SWC to work too.

But I've still haven't figured out this issue with the EQ. I only have two preset EQ settings (Rock and Popular mode).

And when make an EQ adjustment, I'm only able to control about 2/3 of the audio range. For example, if I adjust the slider for the highest frequency, the EQ moves for the midrange spectrum. Photos attached.

Anyone else seen this problem? Do you guys have more than 2 EQ presets? The manual shows more than two. @arcenik any ideas?

I have not played with the EQ. I use a kicker key to give me time alignment and settings. I can check if I have more settings I will post a picture in a few minutes.

Are you using a good lighting/usbc cable? Some are charge only.

This was an issue with the original unit. We tested the voltage outputs for the dampers as I noticed it blows ever so slightly on the feet when set in face only. The voltages all line up with the stock controller but it still was not closing the vents completely. There must be some voltage drop in the mosfets when there is an actual load on them because when I test the AUCAR unit I get the same voltage as the stock unit to the dampers this is without the dampers connected. The dampers work on a 0-12v input to select open or closed.

This could be the same issue because all the dampers should close when turned off. I am not sure if the feet issue was fixed as I permanently blocked the feet vent on the drivers side.

This could possibly be fixed with a AIRPANE/plug box update by over driving the dampers (possibly to 13V-14v) but it would need to be brought to AUCARs attention. It might also not be possible if the AIRPANE/plug box can't go above 12v, I have not taken a look much at the damper control circuits. I have replaced mosfets for the fan control as the first test units were burning mosfets from the high draw of the blower motor, the solder was melting right off the joints.

The air you feel is most likely from the dampers not being closed all the way and outside air is blowing through.

They are not released yet. They should be available in about a month.

Thank you! I'll have to do more research but I'm pretty pleased with the 2nd gen unit overall. Just a few negatives I've noted like air still blowing from vents, not always playing samsung music files via phone, and a bit of lag with google maps (for example I'll pass a street ages ago and the unit will show I'm still just before said street or whatnot before catching up) I tend to just use my phone for navigation to areas I'm not familiar with due to this lag.
