So I recently put the 3.5 inch rough country lift on my Taco. Along with that, I got 285/70 tires. After a day of making sharp turns, mainly while reversing or pulling into a parking stall, the front left tire was rubbing the skid plate. I had to cut about 5 inches off. The right side was fine.

Sounds like you may need an alignment.

5 inches??? Did it increase your turn radius by a mile? 5 inches doesn’t sound right at all.

Uh, 5” is pretty standard. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Works FINE.

I like how your tires rubbed a little and your first instinct was to cut 5 inches off of your skid plate.

Seemed like a real easy fix that didn’t mess with functionally at all and allowed sharp turns to happen with no issue after i cut it. What would you have suggested?

Also, I tried uploading a video but it didnt seem to work. Ill get pics this weekend

I'd have started with verifying the lift and skid were installed correctly, then I would have checked the alignment.

I would have trimmed the tire tread off first. Would have improved the turning radius and improved gas mileage.

I’m still trying to understand how lifting your truck could make your tires rub on the skid plate

That's why my first thought was installation error.

Is this Kevin Durant’s new burner account?

Someone is trolling, they don’t know what a skid plate is, or the install went terribly wrong.
