I’ve had her for over a year now and she still hasn’t disappointed me once.

 

When I got my truck in 2018, I was initially thinking of buying new.
I started lurking on TW.
The 3rd gen forum didn't give me much encouragement.
Just kidding, I discounted most of the moaning and boneheaded stuff on there

Anyway, my future truck suddenly appeared at a local dealer.
I went for a look and got the VIN to do some digging.

According to the Toyota website, there was one previous owner.
He had all the recommended service done at the Toyota dealer he bought it from.
It had spent its life in Utica, New York
Now, I know what you're thinking.

He traded it in at the same dealership he bought it from.
Which so happened to be the dealership that was #1 in the country for replacing rusted frames.
They promptly replaced the frame on Toyota's tab and sold it at auction.
I wonder what kinda trade-in they gave that guy?

Anyway, it was immaculate inside (the guy really took care of it).
No rust on the body at all, which is kinda surprising.
Only 58k miles on it during 12 years of ownership.
1GR V-6 engine.
Built six months after the head gasket redesign.

Did I mention that I did my research?

I went back for a test drive and it drove like new.
I bought it on the spot, cash.
