Was about to order the Torque Engineering hidden winch mount when I ran across HK Off-road, they offer a really stout mount with extra recovery points for about the same price as Torque but I’d have to cut my TRD skid plate for it to work, owner of HK did confirm this but wasn’t sure how much would have to be cut.
Anyway, is anyone using this mount with a TRD skid plate?

No TRD skid here but the mount is very well built. I did have to trim the factory steel skids for it to fit. Had to cut the flange on the front off.

By any chance do you have a pic from underneath and did you use any frame reinforcement brackets? Thanks for the pics!

I did not use any reinforcements. I will grab some pictures in the morning when it’s light out.

This is pretty slick. Wish I had known about this before buying an aftermarket steel bumper so I could add a winch.

I’m not to keen on winch bumpers so this is the way to go for me, Bulldog and Torque Engineering also make them but the one in my link is by far the beefiest one I’ve seen

I went with the SSO slimline bumper. I think it looks neat but I honestly might sell it now that I found this option. Good thing I haven’t installed the bumper yet.

Did the tray have any negative impact on the trucks approach angle?

It did not. It doesn’t hang any lower than factory behind the bumper cover and the hooks are angled upwards on the bottom such that they follow the angle of the bumper cover.
