The Matsuba joints are crazy strong and very hard to break, there's a test somewhere out there showing how they break after the Spicer joint in a Cummins ram (I forget which ones 13xx). Usually driveshaft guys complain about retubing Toyota driveshafts because unlike American stuff Toyota uses varying thicknesses of tube and diameter in the same shaft. That said it's pretty hard to totally ruin a Toyota shaft if you just grease it a few times a decade.

So it’d be better to just get a new slip yoke and rebuild the shaft I have? I’m just wondering if the Cardone one is gonna go bad real quick.
People said to stay away from them when I was looking for a new brake booster.

In all likelihood the cardone shaft isn't made by cardone. They're remanufacturer and this isn't a part that gets remanufactured so it's probably a new part from somewhere else but the point is to get something with a decent warranty. Cardone is a big seller on RockAuto and if you were to have a problem they would take care of you with replacements. Truth be told I personally wouldn't buy any of these. I would have one made or I would take mine to be repaired at my drive shaft guy. Because aftermarket shafts that are custom made and OEM shafts are easy to service.

These weird third-party aftermarket OE replacements use all sorts of whatever they can find and sometimes aren't even serviceable and they certainly don't have any standardization. But when you're not doing your own work or you're on an extremely tight budget you don't always get to pick the best option you get to pick "the best option for you".

There is a well rated driveshaft place 20 minutes from me, so maybe I’ll stop by and see what they say. It’s kinda series Toyota would discontinue a part with such high demand.

    Online meetings -

What do you guys prefer to use over Zoom?

    Screensharing is a must.

Zoom has been buggy for shit so I decided to cancel my subscription last night after tech support couldn't figure out the issue for over a week and a half now.

    Discord seems to work well.

If you get the right office 365 subscription you can use teams, which is on par for Microsoft - shitty but with a couple decent features

They have the parts for the shaft what more do you want. It's not a high failure rate item at all. The only people I know that have replaced shafts have physically run them into rocks they're pretty much always rebuildable

Shit I completely forgot about Discord. And I've used it plenty to share video gaming.

I should've added, something easy to use for older people

So the goal is to continue these online sessions as needed, but making it easy for people to join using an app that requires minimal learning.

I could have Discord as one option and would like one more.

Apparently the slip yoke is also NLA.

I mean Nick is right Google meets is pretty easy and you don't have to have an account although probably most old people do. You just need to make sure that they can adjust the stream quality because Google stream defaults to crazy high quality and not everybody can stream your 4K ass monitor lol. Speaking of which when you're presenting you should really turn your resolution down to like 1080p just for the sake of clarity on the other end cuz people won't be viewing you full screen most likely and if they are they probably still don't have a 4K display.

If it was my guy he'd just rebuild it with a Spicer slip joint. But it's a fairly hard part to kill if you grease it like two or three times every 10 years.

Interviews yea. That company in Idaho wants to fly me out to Moscow now for a final interview. I’m kind of indecisive since the only reviews of the company I can find are negative (only 4 reviews though), and I recall it saying the probationary salary is only like 48k, which may not be enough for me to live out there on my own.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

I'll do a trial run on Meets.

I've heard of Teams and Meets but had to ask on here cause I've never used any of them before.

I had a Zoom meeting yesterday and it went well, but in closing up the session with last minute questions and the sort, the program froze (while audio remained).

My screensharing was still active and the participant was able to see my work live.

Resources were about 4% CPU total usage with only 3gb used for Fusion and exact 397mb used for Zoom. I monitor all resources, bandwidth, etc and Zoom for some reason will just randomly crash.

    Event viewer showed nothing.

You can probably make a living on 48k in Moscow. I mean it'll be tight but it should be doable and there's plenty of coffee shops out there. It's just a little college town in the middle of a ton of farms it's not like a metropolis or anything. Even Lewiston and Clarkston which are about 30 minutes away aren't that big they are very beautiful though.

It seems like it’s a bit of a drive to get to any decent hiking/wheeling out there despite it being in Idaho.
