    Hey all,

I am looking for a catback setup that doesn’t drone. I like the Borla sound clips that I’ve heard, but have not heard Borla in person. I had Corsa on a Mustang GT and absolutely loved it (no drone whatsoever). But a Mustang is an entirely different beast, and the only Tacoma Corsa sound clip I’ve found was disappointingly flat and unremarkable. Who’s got a catback that sounds great and doesn’t murder your eardrums at freeway speeds?

TRD Pro catback is what I run - perfect especially with the SC. OEM fit and no install or use issues. JMO.

I’ve read the TRD Pro catback is very similar to Borla. I will research those more. Thanks for the tip!

I have borla S type. Absolutely no drone when cruising, nice and mellow tone. It’s very similar to TRD catback but borla is just a hair louder.

6 years later I still enjoy the sound.

Yes it is. TRD is a bit quieter but very similar tone.

TRD exhaust, Borla sounds nice but the TRD is just so smooth and deep sounding, no trone,OEM perfect imo! Had mine for about 5 years, love it. Best sounding exhaust for the 3rd gens.

Vote for borla s type because stainless steel is a must if you live in a rusty area. Plus the sound is excellent. No drone but makes some noise when you get on it.

Do not make your decision on videos showing the truck reving in park/neutral. This V6 engine changes exhaust notes under load especially above 3500.

The Toyota TRD “Pro” stainless steel welded one piece has no drone in my DCLB and it was my first mod at 500 miles from brand new and I have just under 70k now.

had a Borla S after the oem stock = lasted about a year and I could not take it any longer. Should have purchased and installed the TRD Pro Exhaust from the beginning.

Reminds me of my supercharged Mustang with Corsa axleback. It was docile as a kitten until you gunned the throttle…then it turned into a menacing, throaty snarl. That sound was like wild angry sex to the ears :bananadead:

So Borla was too loud, or it droned, or both? I absolutely do not want drone. I’d rather keep the stock exhaust than deal with drone.

Do you have any good links? All of the Gibson videos/sound clips that I’ve found (not many) seem like they were recorded with a 2009 cell phone.

TRD catback or Borla S type are the quietest ones. I'm running the TRD cat back and wouldn't want anything louder.

I'll give another vote for the TRD exhaust. Came stock on my Pro (and tbh I didn't even know at the time about exhaust options) but having lived with it for 3 years now I'd definitely go with it again. I like it has a lower pitched and a bit deeper tone than other options and drone is minimal.
