    Our frost line depth is 48". The seven I dug to put up the wall around my patio was enough digging for me for a while.

    I got the first five up next to the house 30” or more, I either hit foundation or rock on the couple that aren’t any deeper than that. My target is 36”.

    It was one project years ago. An old Victorian with large square, built with brick, supports for a porch. Bricks were all over the place, mortar was like dust in places. Had to brace and dig, dig and dig some more. Fun it was not.
